SALARY:
Current employee salary with additional add-ons as eligible will be adjusted accordingly:

  • Programs On-call by phone, but not field - $1,500 add-on if not currently receiving
  • Programs On-call, required field responses - $2,000 add-on if not currently receiving
  • Staff who are LPS certified and part of crisis field-response - $2,000 add-on if not currently receiving

OBJECTIVE AND POSITION SUMMARY
The Mental Health Therapist will utilize independent judgment and expertise to provide mental health services that include psycho-diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, individual and group psychotherapy, rehabilitative and case management services. Mental Health Therapists provide client driven services, either in office, telehealth or in the community, providing crisis support and stabilization.

SPECIALIZATIONS

  • Ability to provide mental health services to children, families, and adults in a community-based organization
  • Ability to work with diverse, multicultural, vulnerable, low-income communities
  • Understanding of and commitment to providing trauma-informed care
  • Proficiency with EXYM system and Department of Mental Health (DMH) paperwork

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Clinical Services & Direct Care

  • Provide mental health services to populations based on program and/or agency need (children, adolescent, adults, older adults).
  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy, clinical rehabilitation, and crisis intervention requiring advanced therapeutic judgment, and make professional referrals to psychiatry or higher or lower levels of care as clinically appropriate.
  • Respond to client crises as required during scheduled work hours and participate in program-assigned after-hours on-call coverage.
  • Assess and determine appropriate clinical responses to crisis situations, including selecting the appropriate mode of intervention (e.g., in person or by phone), in accordance with program needs and clinical judgment.

Treatment Planning & Clinical Documentation

  • Develop and maintain a Problem List collaboratively with the client (and family when appropriate), based on professional clinical determination, and ensure required documentation is completed.
  • Develop individualized, clinically appropriate treatment plans based on diagnostic impressions, evidence based practices, and client specific needs, and modify treatment as clinically indicated.
  • Maintain complete and accurate clinical required records of all counseling sessions and client contact necessary with professional clinical services consistent with DMH, ACCS and contractual obligations.
  • Interpret and apply outcome measures to inform treatment decisions in compliance with Complete outcome measures as required by EBP/DMH.

Care Coordination & Collaboration

  • Collaborate as a clinical professional with various systems, for example, DMH, DCFS, hospitals, and residential facilities, to coordinate care and services.
  • Assist with client transportation related to services, referrals, or approved program activities, when required.

Compliance, Ethics, & Program Deliverables

  • Practice in accordance with professional ethical standards, licensing requirements, and applicable laws, exercising independent clinical judgment at all times.
  • Comply with HIPAA requirements of privacy and access of records.
  • Meet service delivery requirements as dictated by ACCS.

Professional Development & Clinical Practice

  • Attend individual and group clinical supervision for professional development, case consultation, and licensing requirements, and independently apply supervision feedback using professional judgment.
  • Actively participate in all required meetings, trainings, and other activities.

Operational and Administrative Support

  • Other duties as assigned to meet programmatic, departmental and agency needs, including evolving dynamics and priorities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
Education/Background:

  • Master’s degree in social work, clinical psychology, marriage and family therapy or related field required.
  • Must be a Registered Associate (AMFT, ACSW, APCC) with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) and be in good standing.
  • This position requires driving on behalf of the company. Candidates must hold a valid driver’s license, meet the company’s motor vehicle record (MVR) standards, meets company’s insurance eligibility, and comply with all state and federal driving requirements. Ongoing employment is contingent upon maintaining an acceptable driving record.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) highly preferred. Those assigned to provide services in Spanish and English must be able to speak, read, write, and understand both languages at a professional level to communicate Spanish-speaking clients and partners.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, especially Microsoft teams).

HYBRID REMOTE: Position is hybrid remote and requires telehealth and in-person appointments in the field and in the office, meeting with clients, prospects and community partners as needed. Position requires transporting clients as needed. Employee must be available to work during office hours. Employees in crisis programs must be available to participate in the on-call rotation schedule as assigned. Certain programs must be able to provide services in SPA 4 and 6 as needed.
