As the Engineering Team Lead you will be responsible for the functions outlined below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for demonstrating commitment to and leadership of environmental health and safety principles, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure daily operations are adequately and sufficiently completed by the Engineering Team Members.
  • Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met on time and adheres to approved budgets.
  • Supports all new product development, product introduction, and current production needs.
  • With manager, assists and encourages career growth and development by coaching, guiding key objectives, scorecards, and goals for each member of the team.
  • Provides for the mentoring & training of Engineering team members and ensures individual career coaching, performance feedback and talent development that manager has established are fulfilled.
  • Assists in reducing cost through re-engineering product/material.
  • Recommends and implements changes and enhancements to existing manufacturing processes in-house and at suppliers to improve safety, quality, delivery and cost.
  • Leads the Engineering group in optimizing production support, cost reduction, line presentation of material, lean manufacturing improvements, process development and corrective action support.
  • Works closely with research and development, quality assurance, and maintenance personnel to prevent issues with machinery, tooling, fixtures, and products.
  • Identifies deficiencies/occurrences within the manufacturing process.
  • Leads team in conducting capability studies of machined components to ensure consistent capability to produce parts according to the design content.
  • Confers with appropriate departments to implement operating procedures and resolve system malfunctions.
  • Maintains a lean infrastructure system through the implementation of lean principles, lean technologies, training and procedures.
  • Stays informed of new manufacturing technologies and equipment in order to reduce cost through efficiencies.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assists manager with planning and designing manufacturing processes for a production facility.
  • Designs work holding solutions to manufacture components to print specifications using SolidWorks CAD software.
  • Uses Solidworks, MasterCAM, Esprit, or related software’s.
  • Participates in part print design reviews and makes suggestions towards ease of manufacture.
  • Determines the parts, equipment, tools, and processes needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications.
  • Programs CNC machines, set-up machines/trouble shooting, complete machine run-off as needed.
  • Provides adequate support, training and development to team members to continuously improve Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
  • Expected to be a contributor to the company standards on high integrity, safety, fair and equitable treatment and a positive work environment
  • Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering, or related field + 5 years previous manufacturing experience; or Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Prior leadership experience preferred
  • Experience with CNC and manual milling, turning, swiss-turning, multi-axis machining and ancillary manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to work with members across different organizations to develop and deliver components at various stages of the design development process. Groups include design engineering, quality engineering, procurement, industrial engineering, and EHS amongst other groups as necessary.
  • Proven leadership abilities and commitment to Safety Excellence
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Articulate complex issues simply
  • Ability to build strong relationships and a strong team
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize high profile opportunities and respond as needed without prompting
  • Must be able to lead and develop a diverse workforce, maximize team effectiveness, set high team expectations, and hold employees accountable for those expectations

  • Has experience of GD&T, Solidworks, CNC Programming, Mastercam, or similar software.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships and establish trust with teammates

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting and bending throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, to include working in and around machinery, exposure to noise and chemicals, lights/lasers, etc.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by your position and/or Company policy.
