Custodian in Las Cruces, New Mexico at Sparrow Company LLC

A respected manufacturing organization is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to support daily cleaning and housekeeping operations within a food production environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant facility by ensuring all assigned areas meet sanitation, food safety, and workplace standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, efficiency, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Maintain cleanliness of all assigned areas under supervisor direction.
• Clean and sweep break rooms, outdoor break areas, and surrounding plant areas, including parking lots.
• Clean and maintain employee entrance areas and exterior break spaces.
• Clean and sweep areas in front of office entrances, supervisor offices, and laboratory areas.
• Clean and sanitize men’s and women’s restrooms and locker rooms.
• Clean and mop time clock and employee access areas.
• Restock soap, sanitizer, gloves, hairnets, toilet paper, and paper towel dispensers in production and packaging areas.
• Empty trash receptacles throughout production and packaging areas.
• Dispose of discarded cardboard and waste materials properly.
• Maintain inventory of janitorial and sanitation supplies.
• Clean and maintain storm drains and fly traps as assigned.
• Ensure proper sanitation and housekeeping standards are maintained in the packaging and production areas.
• Comply with all safety, GMP, GHP, and food safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain quality and efficiency standards established by supervision.
• Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required. Schedule is 6:00 am to 4:30pm with Sun, Mon, and Thurs off.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Food manufacturing or sanitation experience preferred.
• Ability to stand for the duration of the shift with frequent walking.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently.
• Ability to bend, squat, stoop, kneel, climb, and reach for extended periods.
• Ability to work in wet and noisy environments.
