About This Position

This position serves as a first-line professional manager of professional positions in a complex business services work area. This position is responsible for overseeing OCTO Business Services including supporting the organization in several coordination activities including human resources, training, business process management and IT communications including internal and external IT communciations. As a first-line manager, this individual is responsible for providing a teamwork environment, coaching, and mentoring staff, assigning resources, and assisting with decisions. This position also leads both external and internal communciation activities and works closely with the Director on a consistent organizational tone.

  • The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.
Position Location/Remote Office: The office location is Lansing, MI. The State of Michgian is not able to offer employment to out-of-state applicants that do not plan to relocate. The Depatment of Technology, Management and Budget currently offers a hybrid work option which requires two days working on-site at the official work location and three days of remote work per week.

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience
Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.

The nonprofessional experience must be related to departmental programs and services that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Individuals appointed must possess the department-specific alternative experience for positions within that agency only.
