About This Position
Job Description: Safety Coordinator
FLSA Status: Hourly Non-exempt position
Benefits eligibility: 60 days after hire date
Full Time
Reports to: Safety Director
Job Purpose: Assist the Safety Director in keeping J. Irwin Company employees safe through training and safety inspections. Maintain the companies’ compliance with Federal and State laws as well as in regulation with the companies’ clients.
Job Duties:Job Site safety inspections for all three companies
PPE Hazard Assessments and Job Site Evaluations
Answer and coordinate safety questionnaire for potential clients and meetings
Conduct Monthly safety meetings in all areas
Conduct Drug and Alcohol testing
Oversee TRC Program through Unifirst
Other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent knowledge and experience required. General field experience and knowledge of natural gas pipeline construction or construction work.
Certifications Required:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit, perform repetitive physical and mental activities, have face-to-face and telephone contact with individuals or teams, have telephone conversations, write letters and memos, use electronic mail, meet strict deadlines, work with others in a group or team, and work with external customers or the public. Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to weather conditions. The work is performed both indoors in environmentally controlled conditions and outdoors on the jobsite where the employee will be exposed to extreme heat and cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in the office and can be extreme on the jobsite.
Work Hours: Work hours are generally a regular work week of 40 hours; however, exact hours to work each day may vary as required.

- Employee Training- Teach the following courses to all affected employees as requested by Safety Director
- OSHA 10+30 Hour
- PEC Basic Orientation
- Veriforce Evaluator
- CPR
- First Aid
- Aerial Lift and Forklift Trainer
- Rigger and Signal Person Trainer
- Hydrogen Sulfide Training
- Regulatory Training
Certifications Required:
- OSHA 30 Hour Course in Construction Safety
- CPR and First Aid Certified Instructor
- SAPAA Certified Collector
- PEC Orientation
