About This Position

GENERAL SUMMARY/BASIC PURPOSE OF JOB: • The Senior Accountant position is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of the financial statements and other financial reports to be used by Management of the various entities within the Sinai Health System. • The Senior Accountant is expected to interact with individuals in and outside of Sinai Health System in a professional manner exercising excellent customer service skills. • The progression for the Senior Accountant is determined by the level of supervision required to keep the accountant productive as well as the experienced gained in the role as Senior Accountant. Reports To: Accounting Manager

MINIMUM Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years’ experience in month-end close and year-end audit, account reconciliations, general ledger analysis
  • Experience in Form 990, 990-T, and IL990-T a plus
  • The ability to research accounting pronouncements and implement the changes is a plus.
  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and maintain a strong focus on quality, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and through completion
  • Willingness and eagerness to learn and take on new tasks

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in order to meet different deadlines

  • Ability to earn respect of colleagues

Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate processes and solutions and teach others as needed
  • Provide support and guidance to non-accountants to ensure accurate reporting
  • Ability to engage colleagues and external parties professionally

REQUIRED LICENSES, Certificates, Registrations:

  • CPA preferred
