Summary:
WMC Health’s Department of Surgery is seeking a fellowship trained colorectal surgeon with a track record of academic and leadership experience as the Chief of Colorectal Surgery. The Chief of the Section of Colorectal Surgery is responsible for the strategic, clinical, academic, educational, and administrative leadership of the Section of Colorectal Surgery within the Department of Surgery at WMCHealth. The Chief will lead a comprehensive colorectal surgery program focused on delivering exceptional patient-centered care, advancing surgical innovation, fostering research and scholarly activity, and supporting the education and professional development of medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty.
The Chief will work collaboratively with departmental, hospital, and health system leadership to expand and enhance colorectal surgery services across the WMCHealth Network while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and clinical outcomes.
The Chief will work on an integrated network approach to building the practice of colorectal surgery spanning colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and anorectal disease in concert with the WMCHealth Cancer Center and in collaboration with referring and collaborating service lines.
Clinical Leadership:
· Provide clinical leadership for all colorectal surgery services throughout WMCHealth.
· Develop and implement strategies to expand access to comprehensive colorectal surgical care across the health network.
· Maintain an active clinical practice in colorectal surgery, including minimally invasive, robotic, and advanced colorectal procedures.
· Promote multidisciplinary care through collaboration with gastroenterology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, pelvic floor specialists, and other relevant disciplines.
· Establish and monitor evidence-based clinical pathways and best practices.
· Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on patient outcomes, safety, and value-based care.
Experience:
Required Qualifications
· MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree.
· Board Certification in General Surgery.
· Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Colon and Rectal Surgery by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery.
· Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in New York State.
· Eligibility for medical staff appointment and clinical privileges at Westchester Medical Center.
· Demonstrated leadership experience in an academic or large multidisciplinary surgical practice.
· Record of excellence in clinical care, teaching, and professional service.
Preferred Qualifications
· Associate Professor or Professor rank, or qualifications for appointment at that level through New York Medical College.
· Fellowship training in Colon and Rectal Surgery.
· Experience leading quality improvement, research, or program development initiatives.
· National or regional recognition through professional organizations, publications, or academic contributions.
· Experience with robotic surgery and advanced minimally invasive colorectal techniques.
· Demonstrated success in faculty mentorship and program growth.

As the primary teaching hospital of New York Medical College, Westchester Medical Center has an ACGME accredited general surgery residency training program and fellowship programs in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Abdominal Transplant Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Burn Surgery, and Trauma & Surgical Critical Care. The Chief of Colorectal Surgery will have ample opportunities to be involved with medical student, resident and fellow education. Academic Appointment at New York Medical College will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
