Job Summary:

The Clinical Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and supporting the daily clinical operations of nursing

services within a correctional healthcare environment. This role ensures the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality

patient care while maintaining compliance with all applicable correctional health standards, regulatory requirements,

and organizational policies. The position provides operational leadership and coordination for nursing staff, supports clinical workflows, and partners with security and administrative leadership to ensure continuity of care in a secure setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily clinical operations of nursing services within the correctional facility
  • Support staffing coordination, scheduling, and coverage across nursing shifts
  • Monitor patient flow, clinic operations, and sick call processes to ensure timely access to care
  • Ensure compliance with correctional healthcare standards, state/federal regulations, and accreditation requirements
  • Collaborate with custody staff and leadership to coordinate safe and effective care delivery
  • Assist in development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical policies and procedures specific to correctional healthcare
  • Lead and support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Identify operational barriers and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and care delivery
  • Support onboarding, orientation, and ongoing training of nursing staff
  • Monitor clinical documentation practices and ensure accurate EMR usage
  • Assist with supply management, medication workflows, and clinical resource allocation
  • Respond to and resolve operational issues impacting patient care in real time

Schedule:

40 Hours per week

Salary:

$98,000–$125,000, depending on experience

Requirements:

Travel Requirements:

  • This position may require travel on an as-needed basis to support clinical operations across assigned correctional facilities or regional sites. Travel may include visits for operational oversight, staff support, training, audits, meetings, and implementation of clinical initiatives.
  • Travel is primarily local or within the assigned region (greater Massachusetts and Maine areas); however, this may expand based on organizational growth and operational needs.
  • Occasional flexibility may be required based on operational needs or urgent clinical issues

Qualifications and Education:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (required)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience required
  • Prior experience in correctional healthcare, acute care, emergency nursing, or public health strongly preferred
  • Previous leadership, charge nurse, or clinical operations experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows in a secure or high-acuity environment
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams, including security/custody staff
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to remain calm and effective in a secure, high-pressure environment
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and conflict-resolution abilities
  • Experience with quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Knowledge of correctional healthcare regulations and standards of care

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move over 35 pounds.
  • Regularly able to adequately perform CPR.
