Job Title: Database and Application Support Admin
Position Summary
The Database and Application Support Admin will play a key role in supporting the databases, applications, and web services that keep Keesler Medical Center’s operations running smoothly. This position focuses on maintaining SQL and Oracle databases, supporting local applications, and ensuring systems remain secure, efficient, and reliable. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, working with various technologies, and supporting both technical teams and end‑users.
What You’ll Do
- Support the design, creation, implementation, and maintenance of SQL and Oracle databases.
- Help develop and maintain scripts or applications using languages like C, C++, C#, and Java.
- Maintain and update Government Off‑the‑Shelf (GOTS) and Commercial Off‑the‑Shelf (COTS) databases.
- Monitor database performance and storage to ensure systems stay responsive and well‑optimized.
- Manage database users, roles, and access levels to keep systems secure.
- Create and maintain Oracle objects, stored procedures, and triggers as needed.
- Assist with integrating 81 MDG and commercial vendor databases into the existing network environment.
- Support database‑related software development needs and local project priorities.
- Maintain database backups and restore processes to protect data integrity and availability.
- Provide recommendations on tools, technologies, and approaches that best support the environment.
- Support intranet and internet services, including scripts and features needed for web integration.
- Serve as a technical liaison between Keesler Medical Center and the Defense Health Agency for web and application coordination.
What You Bring
- Experience supporting SQL and/or Oracle database environments.
- Familiarity with programming or scripting (C, C++, C#, Java, etc.).
- Understanding of database structure, optimization, and administration practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues, analyze user needs, and support workflow improvements.
- Experience supporting GOTS/COTS systems is a plus.
- Comfort working with users and stakeholders across different departments.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
