We are seeking an experienced Field Superintendent to lead field operations for a complex high-rise project in St. Joseph, Michigan. This is a key site leadership role for a seasoned construction professional who thrives on tight logistics, complex sequencing, and high-quality execution from the ground up.

Project Overview:

  • Location: St. Joseph, Michigan
  • Project type: Seven-story high-rise with wood and concrete construction
  • Structural scope: Post-tension concrete with two underground levels
  • Site conditions: Tight site requiring strong coordination, planning, and daily field leadership
  • Project duration: Approximately 22 months
  • Peak field leadership: Three superintendents at peak project activity - this role is expected to be the site Lead
  • Construction start: Shoring begins in September.

Following this project, future project support is expected to be based in Michigan, Indiana and northeastern IL. Candidates who are open to traveling for other Midwest projects will be especially well positioned for long-term opportunities with HCG as our project needs continue to evolve.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead day-to-day field operations and coordinate subcontractors, trade partners, suppliers, inspectors, and project staff.
  • Drive the project schedule through strong short-interval planning, sequencing, and proactive issue resolution.
  • Oversee construction activities related to shoring, underground levels, post-tension concrete, wood framing, building systems, and finish progression.
  • Manage jobsite logistics on a tight site, including access, staging, deliveries, safety, and workflow coordination.
  • Maintain high standards for safety, quality, documentation, communication, and jobsite cleanliness.
  • Partner closely with the Project Manager and project team to identify risks, remove obstacles, and keep the project moving forward.
  • Lead coordination meetings, daily huddles, inspections, punch walks, and field communication with professionalism and urgency.

  • Proven experience as a Field Superintendent or Construction Superintendent on large commercial, multifamily, mixed-use, high-rise, or similarly complex projects.
  • Strong experience with concrete structures; post-tension concrete experience is highly preferred.
