Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer and PowerPoint Presentation Specialist to provide technical documentation, presentation development, and visual communications support to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The ideal candidate combines exceptional writing and editing skills with advanced Microsoft PowerPoint expertise and the ability to translate complex technical, programmatic, engineering, and acquisition information into clear, concise, visually compelling products for senior government leaders and diverse stakeholder audiences.
The successful candidate will support the preparation, development, review, and refinement of technical reports, executive briefings, program updates, decision-support materials, and other mission-critical communications. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, the ability to work under tight deadlines, and the judgment to handle sensitive and classified information in accordance with applicable security policies and procedures.
Technical Writing and Documentation
- Develop, write, edit, and proofread technical reports, program documentation, executive summaries, white papers, briefing narratives, memoranda, meeting minutes, and other government deliverables.
- Translate complex technical, engineering, programmatic, and acquisition information into clear, accurate, concise, and audience-appropriate written products.
- Review source materials for accuracy, consistency, completeness, grammar, spelling, terminology, and logical flow.
- Consolidate information from subject matter experts, program managers, engineers, analysts, and government stakeholders into cohesive, professionally written documents.
- Establish and maintain documentation standards, templates, style guides, and quality-control procedures.
- Ensure deliverables comply with applicable contract requirements, government formatting standards, organizational guidance, and established review processes.
PowerPoint Presentation Development
- Design, develop, edit, and refine high-quality Microsoft PowerPoint presentations for senior leadership, program offices, technical reviews, executive decision briefings, and stakeholder engagements.
- Transform complex technical data, program status information, schedules, risks, issues, milestones, and recommendations into clear visual narratives.
- Create professional slides using diagrams, process flows, architecture illustrations, organizational charts, timelines, tables, charts, and other visual elements.
- Apply advanced PowerPoint features, including Slide Master, custom layouts, theme management, reusable templates, animation when appropriate, and consistent formatting.
- Improve slide readability, visual hierarchy, information flow, and message clarity while preserving technical accuracy.
- Integrate information from Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and other approved sources into presentation materials.
- Standardize briefing products to maintain consistent branding, formatting, terminology, and presentation quality across teams and deliverables.
- Conduct detailed quality reviews to verify slide content, data accuracy, citations, formatting, alignment, and overall presentation readiness.
Executive and Programmatic Communications Support
- Collaborate with government leadership, program managers, technical subject matter experts, and contractor teams to identify communication objectives and deliverable requirements.
- Develop briefing materials that communicate program performance, technical progress, acquisition activities, risks, issues, decisions, and recommended actions.
- Support the preparation and coordination of materials for program reviews, leadership meetings, technical interchange meetings, milestone reviews, and other official engagements.
- Organize and synthesize inputs from multiple stakeholders into concise, decision-focused briefings.
- Incorporate reviewer comments and leadership feedback quickly and accurately while maintaining version control.
- Manage multiple concurrent assignments and meet demanding deadlines without compromising quality or accuracy.
Quality Assurance and Information Management
- Perform comprehensive quality assurance reviews of documents and presentations before delivery.
- Maintain document control, version history, review comments, and deliverable tracking in accordance with established procedures.
- Protect sensitive, controlled, and classified information and follow applicable government security, handling, marking, storage, and transmission requirements.
- Use only government-approved systems, tools, and repositories when working with protected information.
- Ensure final deliverables are complete, properly formatted, accessible to authorized audiences, and ready for formal release or presentation.
