About the RoleThe Specialized Accounting Analyst performs banking-specific accounting, reconciliations, entries, schedules, and reporting for specialized financial products, funding relationships, regulatory activities, and Holding Company responsibilities. The role owns assigned processes from source documentation through entry, reconciliation, reporting, and issue resolution.

The position works with the Controller, Accounting Operations, Treasury, Lending, branches, external service providers, and other partners to maintain accurate specialized records, meet recurring deadlines, and support audits, examinations, and management reporting.

Essential ResponsibilitiesSecurities, Funding, and Correspondent Accounting
    Maintain securities and Finser activity, including purchases, sales, maturities, calls, reconciliations, and audit comparisons.Prepare and reconcile entries involving Federal Reserve, Frost, FHLB, correspondent banks, purchased or borrowed funds, service charges, interest, wire fees, and stock activity.Monitor assigned balances and prepare recurring schedules, entries, and reports within established timelines.Research differences among source reports, service-provider records, and the general ledger.
Public Funds, IntraFi, and Deposit Programs
    Process and reconcile assigned CDARS, ICS, IntraFi, public-funds, and related deposit-program transactions.Maintain required customer or account setup information, approved rate changes, renewals, transfers, and supporting documentation.Respond to accounting-related questions and coordinate with branches, Bank Systems, Treasury, or external providers.Support public-entity balance confirmations and audit-document requests.
Loan and Specialized Product Accounting
    Prepare assigned SBA entries, reserve calculations, premium-income bookings, guarantee-fee payments, claims reconciliations, and recurring reports.Support mortgage commissions, commission accruals and reversals, and related reconciliations.Prepare assigned regulatory or management schedules related to lending, deposits, reserves, or other specialized products.Maintain complete support for calculations, approvals, entries, and reconciliations.
Holding Company and Shareholder Support
    Support Holding Company close, balance-sheet reconciliation, Federal Reserve reporting, and year-end entries.Prepare assigned shareholder distributions, transfer or sale support, records, notices, and payment information.Support annual shareholder financial materials and meeting documentation in coordination with leadership.Maintain accurate schedules and supporting records for specialized Holding Company activities.
Regulatory, Audit, and Reporting Support
    Prepare assigned recurring regulatory schedules and reports and obtain required secondary review.Compile supporting documentation for audits, examinations, and public-entity requests.Maintain calendars, workpapers, procedures, and evidence of completion for specialized processes.Research reporting errors, outages, and exceptions and coordinate timely correction.
Performance and Accountability
    Own assigned specialized processes from source information through entry, reconciliation, reporting, and documented review.Meet daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual filing or processing deadlines.Maintain accurate support for complex calculations, transfers, entries, and external reporting.Escalate material outages, regulatory errors, missed deadlines, or control concerns promptly.

Candidate Requirements
    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent specialized accounting experience.Three or more years of accounting, banking operations, treasury accounting, or related financial-services experience.Strong knowledge of journal entries, reconciliations, financial schedules, and internal controls.Ability to learn and manage complex banking products, portals, and recurring reporting requirements.Strong Excel, analytical, research, documentation, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple recurring deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
    Community banking or financial-services accounting experience.Experience with securities accounting, Finser, FHLB, Federal Reserve, correspondent banks, IntraFi, public funds, SBA, or Holding Company accounting.Experience preparing regulatory schedules and responding to audits or examinations.Experience with Horizon, FIS, Banktel, or related banking and accounting systems.

    Ability to maintain confidentiality related to customer, employee, vendor, and organizational information.Regular use of a computer, telephone, and standard office equipment, with extended periods of sitting and digital navigation.Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic channels.Ability to travel between SSB&T locations as business needs require.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential functions.
