Job Description
The Supervisor, Infusion Therapy, contributes to a multidisciplinary team with the focus on non-acute outpatient needs. The Supervisor, Infusion Therapy, demonstrates expertise in specialized IV therapy activities, including, but not limited to, administration of intravenous medications, including immunotherapy, insertion and care of peripheral devices and use and care of central venous catheters.
The Supervisor, Infusion Therapy, is responsible for overseeing the daily business activities of the department(s) and will assume other duties, including clinical duties within the scope of practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
- Working supervisor who will ensure efficient day-to-day operations by serving as primary point of contact
- Perform, and have a working knowledge of all activities pertaining to patient registration, appointment scheduling and confirmation, as well as medical record maintenance
- Direct oversight of staffing schedule. Assures that an adequate number of nursing personnel are scheduled and available to meet patient care needs
- Direct oversight of patient schedules
- Creates an environment for staff participation in performance improvement activities that assures that the care of the patient population meets or exceeds institutional and regulatory standards.
- Assures staff clinical competence is maintained and documented.
- Maintains current knowledge of nationally recognized standards of care and nursing practice for populations served.
- Ensure that all staff are compliant with HIPAA guidelines and take corrective action with the support of management if necessary
- Ensures positive customer service and patient satisfaction, assist with troubleshooting patient concerns in a timely manner
- Assists with the onboarding and orientation of new employees
- Ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment and problem-solving techniques in the decision-making process.
- Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain effective communication and cooperative relationships with all organizational personnel
- Assists with telephone calls and patient interactions (including patient complaints) in a professional and courteous manner.
- Adheres to hospital policies and procedures related to mandatory education and annual health assessment
- Monitors say that Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are current, and the inventory list is accurate.
- Maintains monthly logs—AED, Eyewash Station, therapeutic phlebotomy
- Monitors compliance with all regulatory guidelines and ensures the department is survey ready.
- Assists the Departmental Leadership team in HR related processes.
- Oversight in conjunction with departmental leadership team in maintaining budgetary, financial, and productivity measures
- Attends departmental/organizational meetings and training courses as necessary
- Reviews for quality standards and required information and documentation for patient referrals. Educate referral sources as needed
- Assists in prior authorization process and denial management as needed
- Other duties as assigned by the Director
- Adheres to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics and Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, as well as the New York State Nurse Practice Act
- Maintains competency in clinical practice and participates in activities to expand knowledge and skills related to professional practice
- Provides a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff within the guidelines of Ellis Medicine
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of accredited RN program. Current licensure and registration in NYS with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred or will be obtained within 2 years of employment.
Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience in medical/surgical nursing with IV therapy experience. Supervisory experience is preferred.
Certification: BLS required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The position is located indoors under normal working conditions. Should be able to push/pull 25 lb., lift/move 15 lb. from floor to table, be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to sit at a computer terminal or workstation for a prolonged period, in addition to being able to squat, stand and walk for a reasonable length of time and distance. Sensory requirements include the ability to articulate and comprehend the spoken English language, in addition to being able to read the English language.

Salary Range: $ 47.28-$ 70.92 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the state.
