Job Description
Position Summary:
The Clinical Exercise Specialist is responsible for implementing fitness and exercising programs for persons with neurologic disabilities. This person will work closely with PEAK Wellness Center members providing excellent customer service and creating a culture of wellness.
Position Requirements:
- Licensure/Certification/Registrations: Current BLS for the Health Care Provider certification required. NCCA accredited certification such as ACSM, NSCA or ACE preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in exercise physiology, kinesiology, human performance, exercise science or other related field from an accredited college required. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Experience: 2-4 Years of industry experience preferred; Experience with neurologic population preferred.
- Skills & Abilities: Possess strong interpersonal skills; Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate, problem solve, and adapt to a fast changing environment with competence. Possess a dedication to teamwork and commitment to excellence. Possess a talent for mastering fitness equipment/technology and providing this education to patients and staff. Possess the ability to apply strong clinical foundation of physical fitness as well as integrating appropriate educational concepts for persons with neurologic disabilities into community health and wellness program. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly motivated with a positive attitude.
- Participate in the daily operations of the wellness facility including but not limited to open/closing procedures, answering phones, scheduling appointments, making copies, filling, and conducting wellness center orientations.
- Under the guidance and direction of the Health & Wellness Coordinator, provide 1:1 strength training and fitness training sessions with persons who have neurologic disabilities
- As assigned, design and conduct strength and fitness classes for persons diagnosed with neurologic disabilities.
Implement individualized exercise plans that consider member’s physical and age-specific needs and abilities. Ensure that treatment plans are supported by standard practices and/or current literature. Re-evaluates treatment plans, as needed, to ensure safety and maximum member benefit. - Consistently demonstrate level of expertise and knowledge in health, fitness and exercise prescription.
- Responsible for daily, weekly, monthly, cleaning duties as assigned including proactively addressing issues regarding facility cleanliness.
