Job Description
$100,000 - $180,000 yearly
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with paralegals and senior partners to ensure swift action through the civil litigation process
- Help solve legal problems for clients through analyzing the situation, understanding their needs, and creating a strategic plan of action
- Manage the division of marital assets, including real estate, during divorce proceedings when needed
- Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current
- Attend court proceedings as needed to represent clients
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree with a legal background and Juris Doctor degree required
- Candidates should be great negotiators and communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high
- Active membership with the ABA (American Bar Association)
- Ability to successfully represent both plaintiff and defendant sides of a case
- Must have worked on family law issues for at least 1-2 years; handling of real estate also required
- Hard-working TEAM player responsible for all aspects of a client's case, including communicating with clients and other counsel, drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, preparing for and attending court hearings, settlement conferences, performing legal research, and preparing for and attending trials
- DVRO & Trial Experience Required
- Knowledge of CA Discovery Required
- A California Bar License in good standing is required
- High levels of self-esteem, empathy, and compassion
- Ability to put clients at ease
- Understanding how clients’ problems are more than legal problems to them
- Exceptional communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Extremely comfortable with technology (and realizes that smartphones might be smarter than us)
