Job Summary:
The Radiology Scheduler is directly accountable to the Director of Radiology. Position requires utilization of clinical knowledge to schedule appropriate procedures/surgeries per provider’s orders. The Scheduler must schedule hospital procedures consistent with the patient’s diagnosis and procedure request within the time requested. Possession of excellent customer service skills with patients, employees, and the public at all times. The Scheduler must be able to respond to both written and oral correspondence regarding scheduling changes/cancellations in a timely, accurate manner. Individual must be organized, and be able to manage demanding workload with accuracy. The Scheduler will also be responsible for other duties as needed such as Kronos time keeping, secretarial duteies as needed, etc. The Cath Lab Scheduler will also accept other responsibilities as are delegated by the manager/director or PCC to assure optimum patient care.
Performance Expectations:
Performance expectations will be covered in the orientation and precepted phases of your orientation to your job.
- Schedules cases for the FGH Diagnostic, MRI, CT, and Nursing Department in EPIC
- Maintaining the Radiology scheduling system as developed by the Radiology Supervisors and Director
- Alerting the Radiology Manager and/ or Director to conflicts immediately as they occur
- Ensures insurance is covering surgery and informs the Physician and clinical staff
- Coordinates with Surgical Services/Anesthesia for anesthesia cases
- Communicates with all departments to maximize efficiency and expedite the admission process.
- Coordinating special needs for cases with the appropriate specialty coordinator as the case is schedule
- Performing
- Assisting Director with typing of minutes/memos
- Creating Check Request per Director Request
- Creating Excel Spread Sheets for Data Collection
- Running any required reports from EPIC/MERGE
- Uses “We Care” philosophy in dealing with all customers daily
- Participates in the educational opportunities for the implementation and mastering of the EPIC scheduling process
- Present to our offices the upmost customer service, resolving any and all conflicts
- Maintains all Health Stream assignments within the time deadline
- Participate in all staff meetings and educational opportunities
- Maintain all annual competencies
- Acts as a resource to all department personnel (Admin, radiologist, nurses, RAD Techs, Support Staff, etc.)
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Two years of college preferred. Extensive work experience may substitute for some collegiate studies.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel applications
Work Experience:
- Strong communication skills required.
- Computer experience required.
- Must have a working knowledge and experience of data processing systems and data analysis.
- Must be able to work in an active environment and remain calm and focused.
- EPIC Training Preferred

Mental Demands:
- Exceptional oral and written skills are required to relate effectively to Hospital and medical staff. The individual must have the ability to type and be familiar with the rules of spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- The individual must have the ability to use a computer display station, copier, telephone, personal computer, and calculator.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology is necessary.
- The individual must have a high energy level and be capable of handling pressure situations both mentally and physically.
