Job Description

The Opportunity:

The main objective of this position is to configure, implement, debug, maintain, and provide on-going support of assigned enterprise applications.

  • Communicates status of system disruptions in a timely and accurate manner while providing input to the mitigation of all current and future risks.
  • Contributes to a team-based culture to ensure the smooth operation of the group, its projects, and the operational goals of the Port of Virginia.
  • Manages application software versioning to maximize consistency across all operations sites.
  • Reviews new application versions and processes for assigned applications.
  • Manages and conducts test plans related to the deployment of new software and associated upgrades.
  • Provides launch day support associated with all software systems that interact with assigned applications.
  • Provides 24x7 support for timely resolution of emergency situations.
  • Collaborates with team members to provide cohesive, manageable, and functional application solutions.
  • Implements strategies for increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of applications, as well as ways to improve or further leverage these tools.
  • Maintains awareness of safety in all aspects of daily decisions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • The Port of Virginia is a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week, 365-day-a-year operation, schedule and location may vary based on the needs of the operation.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Licenses, Certifications, and Credentials

Valid driver’s license; Transportation Worker Identification Credential are required.

Work Experience

No experience required. Background in terminal operations associated with assigned applications preferred.
