Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Tax Planner, Wealth Management based in Canada.
The Senior Tax Planner will help optimize financial plans for high-net-worth clients, with a particular focus on maximizing tax efficiency and identifying opportunities that may otherwise be overlooked. This is a highly specialized role combining deep Canadian tax expertise with sophisticated financial planning knowledge. You will review established wealth plans, identify applicable tax strategies, and model opportunities that can create additional value for clients. Working closely with advisors, you will provide internal expertise on complex situations involving corporations, trusts, estates, and other advanced planning structures. The role also offers opportunities for selective client-facing interaction and contribution to the evolution of a differentiated financial planning offering. It is an ideal opportunity for an experienced CPA and CFP who thrives in a fast-moving, technology-enabled, AI-forward environment.
Review and optimize financial plans for high-net-worth clients, primarily within the $1M–$3M range, with some exposure to clients with assets up to $5M.
Identify applicable tax planning strategies and maximize incremental tax value across each client's overall financial plan.
Act as an internal tax strategy resource for advisors, including developing, modeling, and evaluating complex tax planning opportunities.
Apply advanced knowledge of Canadian tax legislation and financial planning principles to situations involving corporations, trusts, estates, and other sophisticated structures.
Support occasional client-facing discussions involving complex tax planning topics while remaining within the scope of the role and not providing direct tax advice as the client's accountant.
Contribute to the continued development and enhancement of a high-quality, tax-focused financial planning offering.
Collaborate closely with wealth management and advisory teams to integrate tax strategies into broader client plans.
Use AI and emerging technology tools to accelerate research, improve modeling, streamline workflows, and increase the quality and scalability of tax planning work.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, methodologies, and tools in a fast-moving wealth management environment.
Maintain a strong client-first perspective, ensuring tax strategies support broader financial objectives and long-term client outcomes.
CPA designation is required.
