Position Summary: The role will perform point-to-point checkout, verify proper system response, configure control parameters, troubleshoot controls and communication issues, and coordinate startup and commissioning activities with HVAC and electrical personnel. Work must be completed safely and in accordance with approved sequences, project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and applicable Texas licensing requirements. This position is contingent upon contract award, final scope, and project requirements.
Duties and Responsibility: Install and configure bedroom thermostats and common-area central controls within the assigned workshare. Install controllers, sensors, control wiring, interfaces, and related accessories. Perform point-to-point checkout and verify correct input/output response. Configure control parameters consistent with approved sequences, submittals, and manufacturer requirements. Troubleshoot controller, sensor, actuator, communication, and control-wiring issues. Coordinate controls startup with HVAC and electrical personnel. Support functional testing, commissioning, documentation, and VA O&M training. Required Qualifications: Commercial HVAC controls installation/startup experience. OSHA 10 Construction certification. Ability to interpret controls diagrams, wiring diagrams, sequences of operation, and manufacturer documentation. Ability to perform assigned electrical/low-voltage work under all applicable Texas licensing and supervision requirements. Preferred Qualifications: Carrier commercial controls experience. Experience integrating individual-zone thermostats with common-area/central HVAC controls. Commercial HVAC startup and commissioning experience. Federal/VA project experience. Work Environment Requirements: The scope requires a respective thermostat for each Fisher House bedroom and central control for common areas. All onsite construction workers require OSHA 10 certification. Electrical/low-voltage assignment must be reviewed for applicable Texas licensing requirements before placement.
