ABOUT THE ROLE |
JC Automation is seeking an Intermediate Automation Engineer with Emerson DeltaV experience to support a life sciences manufacturing site in Walkersville, Maryland. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting automation systems in a regulated manufacturing environment and will assist with system configuration, troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, and continuous improvement activities.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS |
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation, Controls, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Approximately 3 or more years of relevant automation or controls engineering experience.
- Hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV.
- Experience with industrial automation systems in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of PLC, HMI, SCADA, DCS, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Experience supporting commissioning, startup, FAT, or SAT activities.
- Familiarity with GMP requirements and documentation practices.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Walkersville, Maryland.
Preferred
- Experience supporting DeltaV systems in pharmaceutical or biotechnology manufacturing.
- Experience with automation system upgrades, migrations, or expansion projects.
- Familiarity with validation and computerized system documentation in a GMP environment.
- Experience with process instrumentation and control-loop troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of ISA, GAMP, or related automation and validation standards.

- Support configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of Emerson DeltaV control systems.
- Support automation engineering activities for manufacturing equipment and process systems.
- Assist with system modifications, upgrades, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Participate in FAT, SAT, loop checks, functional testing, and field troubleshooting.
- Support development and maintenance of automation documentation, including system configurations, control narratives, test documentation, and related technical records.
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, operations, quality, and validation teams.
- Support investigation and resolution of automation-related issues.
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with GMP, site procedures, quality requirements, and applicable engineering standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to automation system performance and reliability.
