Since 1991, TRY Recycling Inc. has been operating as a multi-purpose facility providing collection and processing of construction and demolition waste for the province of Ontario, along with the composting of leaf and yard waste. Location: 1450 Oxford Street West, London Ontario

Employment Type: Part-Time/Seasonal Contract ending in December

Hours of Availability: Monday - Friday 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM Saturday 8:00AM-5:00PM , Sunday 11:00AM-5:00PM for our fall hours.

This position is part-time and requires weekend work.

Rate of Pay: $19.56 per hour

Candidate must have access to vehicle or a reliable ride as they will need to travel to different locations from time to time.

Job Summary

The Equipment Loader Operator is responsible for operating in a safe and appropriate manner. The successful candidate will have experience operating front-end loaders, and other pieces of equipment. The operator must deal with residents and members of the company in a courteous respectful manner. The Operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by legislation, as well as company policies and procedures. The operator must be able to operate safely in a high traffic yard.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Certification in related field is an asset
  • 2+ years’ experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator (preferred excavator operator experience and loader knowledge)
  • Must be able to work Saturdays and Sundays
  • Knowledge of operation of Front end loaders
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage
  • Professional demeanor under stressful situations
  • Confident, consistent, and decisive personality
  • Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment

Job Duties

  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor to facilitate prompt correction or reporting
  • Complete daily circle checks and maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service 
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other minor maintenance work
  • Check machinery before driving to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Accurate completion of work orders and timecards
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and operation techniques
  • Ensure that any debris caused by the loading/unloading of truck is cleaned up
  • Operate hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and any other necessary mechanical components
  • Operate gasoline and diesel-powered units
  • Complete all necessary paperwork. May include, but not limited to, daily logs, delivery receipts, vehicle inspection, hours of service, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned 

Work Conditions

  • Part time hours 25 hours per week max
  • Weekend work required
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Safety equipment will be required (steel-toed safety boots- other PPE will be provided)
  • Hazards & elements associated with the trade (dust, noise, odour etc.)
  • Will be exposed to construction sites
