Accountabilities:

The Battery Storage Technician I will support daily operations by executing preventive and corrective maintenance activities, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring battery storage systems operate safely and efficiently. The role requires strong adherence to technical procedures, safety protocols, and operational standards while collaborating with site teams and external partners.

  • Perform preventative maintenance activities on battery energy storage system equipment during scheduled maintenance cycles.
  • Execute reactive maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and root-cause analysis to restore equipment operation.
  • Complete required safety documentation, including permits to work, job safety plans, and risk assessments.
  • Conduct lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and ensure compliance with electrical safety requirements.
  • Interpret technical documentation, maintenance instructions, checklists, and operational procedures.
  • Create, update, and track work orders and maintenance observations using asset management systems.
  • Support site orientations and supervise third-party representatives, vendors, and service providers to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Perform electrical competency activities, including AC/DC voltage measurements, electrical testing procedures, and safe equipment verification.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and contribute to continuous improvement of site reliability.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has foundational electrical knowledge, hands-on maintenance experience, and a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence. This role is suited for a technician who enjoys field work, troubleshooting, and developing expertise in renewable energy systems.

  • High school diploma/GED required, or completion of an electrical program covering AC/DC voltage, electrical theory, and electrical system fundamentals.
  • 1–3 years of experience in battery energy storage systems, solar generation, wind generation, thermal power plants, or controls and instrumentation maintenance.
  • Understanding of electrical equipment including AC/DC breakers, disconnects, transformers, contactors, relays, and electrical schematics.
  • Experience using basic hand and power tools, including torque tools, drills, sockets, and electrical testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems and experience monitoring or supporting operational technology systems.
  • Ability to perform field work in varying indoor and outdoor conditions.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and provide operational support when needed.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to operate company vehicles.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically to support additional renewable energy sites.
  • Strong focus on workplace safety, compliance, teamwork, and attention to detail.
