Based in Park City, UT, Triumph Geared Solutions is a leading independent aerospace gear and gear box supplier for the commercial and military helicopter and business jet markets and employs approximately 200 employees. The Company’s key products and services include power transmission systems, integrated gearbox design and builds, airframe mounted accessor drives (AMAD’s), engine mounted accessory drives (EMAD’s), rotorcraft transmissions, turboshaft internal gearboxes, emergency power gearboxes, and large complex aero gears for both OE and aftermarket/spares end markets.
Park City, UT lies east of Salt Lake City in the western state of Utah. Framed by the craggy Wasatch Range, it’s bordered by the Deer Valley Resort and the huge Park City Mountain Resort, both known for their ski slopes.
Triumph Geared Solutions is currently seeking a Senior Chem/Met Lab Technician for our Park City, UT location.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is able to work with minimal direction, has strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, and has the ability to successfully collaborate across multiple functions.
The Senior Chem/Met Lab Technician will help lead all aspects of the Chemical & Metallurgical Laboratory Team, developing and implementing a vision to ensure all customer and regulatory requirements are met and that laboratory processes are continually improving in efficiency and quality.
- Manage the day to day activities and priorities of the Chemical/Metallurgical Laboratory to support the businesd.
- Daily collaboration with cross-functional teams including operations, engineering, test, and manufacturing to ensure high quality product is delivered to our customers on time.
- Participate in the daily Metric Tier meetings to ensure production issues are escalated appropriately.
- Contribute and participate in providing guidance/training to the site in respect to upcoming changes to NADCAP by actively staying abreast of industry changes.
- Act as the main focal point for NADCAP Audits for Chemical Processing and Heat Treat.
- Perform a variety of technical procedures such as preparing routine solutions and reagents and performing routine reactions.
- Analyze compounds.
- Make and record observations, perform simple calculations, and collect and prepare data for evaluation.
- Conduct laboratory support functions, such as stocking and distributing supplies and equipment, arranging and dismantling apparatus, and collecting, washing, and storing glassware.
- Use computer to perform all technical and record keeping duties in conformance with company and regulatory procedures and standards to meet quality and accuracy requirements.
- Perform technical procedures in multiple areas and prepare for evaluations.
- Keep records that conform to company requirements and regulatory requirements.
- Perform microhardness inspections as required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant industry work experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and industry specifications.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interface with an organization at all levels.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated work ethic.
- Ability to take the initiative to become involved in activities to help resolve problems and make improvements.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Master’s Degree in Chemistry or a related discipline.
- Lean / Six Sigma Experience.
- AS9100 experience.
- AS9102 First Article Inspection experience.
- AS13100 knowledge/experience.
- Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) Trained
