This role serves as a key operational expert for payroll, benefits, HRIS, and related financial processes across a multi-state workforce.
You’ll take ownership of bi-weekly payroll for more than 350 employees while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
As the primary HRIS subject matter expert, you’ll administer Paycom and continuously improve workflows supporting payroll, benefits, timekeeping, and reporting.
The position works closely with Finance & Accounting and People & Culture, acting as a trusted connection between people operations and financial reporting.
You’ll handle sensitive employee information, resolve payroll and benefits questions, and maintain a high standard of confidentiality and service.
The role also supports organizational growth by helping with new-state payroll registrations, audits, reconciliations, and process improvements.

- Multi-state payroll: Process accurate bi-weekly payroll for 350+ employees using Paycom, reviewing timecards, PTO, bonuses, commissions, deductions, adjustments, and other payroll inputs.
- HRIS administration: Serve as the primary Paycom administrator, maintaining employee records, HRIS access, reporting functions, time and attendance systems, and related workflows.
- Benefits administration: Manage employee benefits, 401(k) contributions, COBRA processes, enrollment activities, and related administrative requirements.
- Financial reconciliation: Reconcile payroll, benefits invoices, 401(k) contributions, payroll taxes, temporary-worker timecards, and agency invoices to ensure financial accuracy.
- Compliance: Monitor and support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll, benefits, and labor regulations.
- Reporting and audits: Prepare payroll reports, audits, journal entries, supporting documentation, and other information required by Finance and HR.
- Payroll expansion: Support payroll tax registrations and related setup activities when the organization expands operations into additional states.
- Employee support: Respond promptly and professionally to payroll and benefits questions while protecting confidential employee and compensation information.
- Process improvement: Identify opportunities to strengthen payroll, benefits, HRIS, reporting, and reconciliation workflows as the organization grows.
- Experience: At least 3 years of strong experience processing multi-state payroll for a workforce of 350+ employees.
- Payroll expertise: Solid understanding of multi-state payroll processes, deductions, taxes, timekeeping, PTO, bonuses, commissions, and payroll adjustments.
- Benefits knowledge: Strong working knowledge of employee benefit plans, 401(k), COBRA, enrollment processes, and benefits administration.
- HRIS proficiency: Experience with payroll/HRIS platforms, including report-writing tools and time and attendance systems; Paycom experience is strongly preferred.
- Reporting skills: Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and manage accurate payroll and HR reporting functions.
- Accounting knowledge: Basic understanding of general accounting concepts, including P&L, balance sheets, general ledgers, journal entries, debits, and credits.
- Reconciliation: Experience reconciling monthly invoices and validating payroll- and benefits-related financial data.
- Attention to detail: Highly organized and meticulous, with a strong focus on accuracy, deadlines, compliance, and data integrity.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to assist employees and collaborate effectively with Finance, HR, and other stakeholders.
- Confidentiality: Demonstrated discretion when handling sensitive payroll, benefits, compensation, and employee information.
- Work environment: Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment and able to work a night-shift schedule.
