A key focus will be improving reliability, developer experience, observability, and cloud-native adoption across the platform.
You will also mentor senior engineers, influence technical strategy, and help raise architectural maturity across the organization.
This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned cloud architect who enjoys solving complex distributed-systems challenges and turning technical vision into scalable execution.
- Own cloud platform architecture: Define and evolve the long-term architecture for a multi-cloud, multi-region, multi-tenant SaaS platform, including modernization and migration strategies.
- Lead cloud modernization: Drive cloud-native adoption, architectural transformation, and major migration initiatives while addressing technical and architectural debt.
- Design scalable infrastructure: Architect highly available platform services spanning compute, networking, storage, APIs, and shared infrastructure components.
- Establish architectural standards: Create reference architectures, engineering patterns, and best practices while leading architecture reviews focused on security, scalability, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Shape Kubernetes and platform infrastructure: Guide the architecture of containerized platforms and shared services that can reliably support enterprise-scale SaaS workloads.
- Drive reliability and resilience: Partner with SRE teams to improve availability, disaster recovery, observability, fault tolerance, capacity planning, and overall operational maturity.
- Enable engineering teams: Collaborate with Platform Engineering to improve CI/CD, developer tooling, infrastructure consumption, and self-service capabilities for product teams.
- Collaborate across engineering: Partner with Infrastructure, Platform, SRE, Security, and Product Engineering teams to translate strategic objectives into effective technical execution.
- Evaluate emerging technologies: Investigate new technologies, prototype architectural approaches, and make informed recommendations regarding the evolution of the platform.
- Develop technical talent: Mentor senior engineers, facilitate architectural decision-making, and strengthen engineering standards and architectural maturity across the organization.
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in software engineering, cloud infrastructure, or related technical disciplines, including experience operating at Principal Engineer, Principal Architect, or equivalent senior architectural level.
- Cloud architecture: Proven success designing and operating large-scale, multi-region, multi-tenant, cloud-native SaaS platforms.
- Distributed systems: Deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud architecture, Kubernetes, containers, and modern platform engineering practices.
- Cloud platforms: Strong experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure, with GCP experience particularly valuable.
- Networking and infrastructure: Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts including load balancing, service discovery, ingress, DNS, service mesh, and Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform.
- Reliability and observability: Experience with modern observability and monitoring technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or Datadog.
- Software engineering: Strong coding capabilities in Java, Python, Go, or a comparable programming language, with the ability to contribute hands-on when required.
- Architecture leadership: Demonstrated ability to establish technical standards, lead enterprise-scale cloud migrations, guide platform engineering initiatives, and resolve complex architectural challenges.
- Cross-functional influence: Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and consensus-building skills, with the ability to influence senior technical teams without relying solely on formal authority.
- Strategic thinking: Ability to balance long-term architectural vision with practical execution, business priorities, reliability requirements, and developer needs.
- Preferred expertise: Experience with AI, analytics, large-scale data platforms, cloud security, governance, compliance, or internal developer platforms is highly valued.
- Base salary: $215,000–$300,000 annually for U.S.-based employees, with final compensation determined by experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
