Job Description

About us

Sprout Food Group is a founder-led Adelaide hospitality business. Themis Chryssidis and Callum Hann are in the venues day to day, and our head chefs cook — they're not stuck in an office.

We run three venues, each with its own kitchen and its own character:

  • Pantry on Prospect — Modern Australian

  • Olive Restaurant — Mediterranean-inspired

  • Roma Restaurant, Deli & Piazza — Italian-inspired

Menus change with the seasons. As a guide, kitchens run three to four on a day shift and up to six on a busy night — small enough that what you do matters, big enough to have a real team around you.

Our kitchens are busy, food-led and run to a high standard. They're also supportive, professional, and don't run on yelling.

We're heading into peak season and hiring across all three venues now.

The roles

Chefs — from first-year cooks through to qualified chefs. We're looking for skill, care and teamwork, and we'll pitch the role to where you're at.

Cooks and Commercial Cookery students — a kitchen where you'll be taught properly, across sections, by people who want you to get good.

Casual roles, with shifts across days, evenings and weekends.

Pay: Depending on experience, plus penalty rates and casual loading.

What we're looking for

We're moving quickly, and we want people who'll contribute from their first shift — whatever level that's at.

You'll need:

  • Kitchen experience in a restaurant or high-volume venue, or a Commercial Cookery qualification (or working toward one)

  • The ability to hold a section under pressure, or the willingness to learn how

  • Solid understanding of allergens and dietary requirements

  • Food Safety knowledge, or willingness to obtain certification

  • Availability across evenings and weekends

  • The right to work in Australia

  • A professional, team-first attitude

  • Genuine care about the food that leaves the pass

Certificate III in Commercial Cookery is an advantage for chef roles, not a requirement for cook roles.

On availability

Good kitchen people are hard to find, so we'd rather work around the right person than miss them. If you're studying, travelling, or juggling other commitments, tell us what you need, and we'll have an honest conversation about whether we can make it work.

We publish rosters in advance so you can plan.

Students — we roster around class timetables.

Working holiday visa holders — hospitality is exempt from the six-month employer cap under visa condition 8547, so you can work with us for the length of your visa. Check your grant notice or VEVO record to confirm what applies to you. Please note we don't offer sponsorship.

What we offer

  • Three distinct kitchens and cuisines — real range to build in one group

  • Seasonal menus, so the cooking doesn't go stale

  • Founders who are hands-on and will teach you

  • Rosters published in advance

  • Discounts across all three venues, the deli and the cooking school

  • All venues accessible by public transport

Many of our chefs have come up through our kitchens. We value developing and retaining our people.
