At RWJBarnabas Health, coordinating care behind the scenes is an important part of creating a seamless experience for patients and clinical teams. As a Nursing Data Clerk with Home Infusion, you’ll support the daily operations of the nursing department by coordinating schedules, maintaining patient information, and communicating with nurses, agencies, and the infusion care team. If you’re organized, detail-oriented, and enjoy helping a healthcare team stay connected, this position offers an opportunity to directly support the delivery of patient care.
In this role, you’ll be:
- Entering new patient referrals into scheduling software accurately and efficiently.
- Maintaining and updating the active patient list and ensuring appointments are scheduled appropriately.
- Obtaining and maintaining nursing availability to support patient scheduling needs.
- Reviewing and assigning patient visits based on visit type, duration, location, and nurse availability.
- Collaborating with the infusion care team to coordinate schedules and meet patient care needs.
- Faxing pharmacy and nursing orders, along with required follow-up documentation, to nursing agencies providing patient care.
- Answering nursing department phone calls while providing professional and responsive customer service.
- Communicating patient care changes and updates to field nurses in a timely manner.
- Communicating with management when outside agency support is needed.
- Organizing daily responsibilities, setting priorities, and seeking guidance when appropriate.
- Participating in department committees or plans and cross-training to assist in other areas as needed.
- Performing additional duties as assigned or directed by management.
- You are highly organized and enjoy coordinating schedules and keeping information accurate and up to date.
- You communicate effectively with patients, nurses, management, and members of the infusion care team.
- You are comfortable balancing multiple priorities while working with minimal supervision.
- You have strong attention to detail when reviewing patient visits, schedules, and documentation.
- You demonstrate professionalism and provide positive customer service in your interactions.
- You enjoy collaborating with others to solve scheduling challenges and support patient care.
- You are adaptable and willing to cross-train and assist other areas of the department as needed.
To be considered for this position, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and successfully complete all orientation requirements. Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and prioritization skills are important for success in this position, along with the ability to work effectively with patients and members of the infusion care team. One year of clerical experience and one year of healthcare experience are preferred.
