Overview

We offer a competitive salary for this role, with an expected range of $83,900 to $106,300. The final offer will depend on your experience, skills, and overall qualifications. This is a year-round position located in Bath, Maine with onsite requirements. Travel to other sites within the Bath and Brunswick area may be required. This is primarily a first shift position.

The Sr. IT Specialist combines advanced CMDB architecture leadership with handson configuration and asset management administration. The Sr. CMDB Architect & Configuration Management Specialist is responsible for the full lifecycle of Configuration Items (CIs), enterprise CMDB data quality, architectural governance, ITOM platform maturation, and ensuring all IT assets are properly identified, controlled, maintained, and retired.

The role requires broad IT infrastructure and ServiceNow platform expertise, strong leadership and communication, and the ability to translate complex needs into maintainable, scalable solutions.

Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), the Sr. IT Specialist ensures compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards while coordinating with other key stakeholders to meet overall milestones.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership:

  • Comply with all BIW safety and security standards while working in environments that range from administrative offices to active manufacturing and shipboard areas.
  • Promote a culture of proactive safety awareness and accountability across the team.
  • Ensure safe workplace conditions and compliance with government and company safety standards.

Project Execution:

  • Lead the design, architecture, and longterm roadmap of the ServiceNow CMDB.
  • Define CMDB data models, CI class standards, relationships, governance rules, and architectural documentation.
  • Architect and guide ITOM implementations including Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management, AIOps, and cloud/ITSM/SecOps integrations.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable and secure ServiceNow configurations and integrations.
  • Design and optimize integrations (REST, SOAP, MID Server, IntegrationHub).
  • Conduct technical and architectural reviews, providing escalationlevel troubleshooting and performance tuning.
  • Oversee CI audits, reconciliation processes, and corrective actions to maintain CMDB integrity.
  • Maintain lifecycle configuration accuracy for all services and CIs (planned, current, historical).
  • Provide ongoing support for discovery tools, processes, and CI verification.
  • Ensure only authorized components and changes enter the production ecosystem.

Training and Development:

  • Mentor CI Managers, ServiceNow developers, and administrators.
  • Serve as a technical resource to IT staff and other departments on IT configuration management best practices and standards.

Team Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work with IT infrastructure, project teams, and stakeholders to embed CMDB and ITAM requirements in project plans.
  • Provide periodic reports and strategic recommendations to leadership on CMDB health, platform updates, and ITOM/ITSM integration strategies.
  • Collaborate to resolve CMDBrelated issues and incidents quickly and effectively.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive CMDB and ITOM maturity programs focused on data quality, reconciliation, dependency mapping, and automation strategies.
  • Maintain architectural documentation including data models, system diagrams, and configuration standards.
  • Advise leadership on roadmap opportunities based on industry trends and new platform capabilities


Responsibilities

  • BA/BS degree (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years administering a CMDB, preferably in ServiceNow.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IT hardware, networks, systems, and servers.
  • ITIL Foundation certification.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, organization, and data analysis skills.
  • Ability to manage tasks independently and navigate fastpaced environments.
  • Experience producing metrics, dashboards, and reports using spreadsheets and database exports.


Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of CMDB technologies, CI modeling, ITIL/ITAM frameworks, and enterprise discovery tools.
  • Experience with ITSM processes (incident, problem, change, release).
  • Strong analytical skills working with large data exports.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Visio, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with enterprise IT service desk environments and best practices.
