Key Job Activities:
- Provides nursing care by individualizing interventions for patients with problems of a non-routine nature.
- Utilizing the nursing process, identifies complex variables and inter-relationships of the assessment data.
- Includes discharge planning needs into plan for care and initiates processes to obtain necessary referrals to assist patient/family and expedite discharge.

- Implements physician and nursing orders as appropriate involving patient, family significant others.
- Seeks out opportunities to enhance technical competence.
- Takes appropriate action in anticipation of potential life-threatening or emergency situations.
- Uses equipment and supplies in a safe and cost efficient manner.
- Corrects actual or potential incidents of staff, environment, and/or equipment deficiencies.
- Organizes and prioritizes nursing activities in an efficient and effective manner.
- Participates actively and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to develop a common approach or to modify health care needs.
- Guides and apprises ancillary personnel in the performance of technical skills.
- Reinforces to others the principles of “Customer Service” philosophy.
- Functions in the role of charge nurse.
- Maintains confidentiality in matters relating to patients and/or staff members.
- Demonstrates understanding of professional responsibility extending beyond own patient care assignment.
- Completes self-evaluation, which demonstrates insight into own strengths and areas for professional development.
- Actively participates in educational opportunities to meet learning needs of self and other. Develops an awareness of relationship between research and nursing practice.
Education and Work Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Successful completion of Hospital and Departmental orientation programs
- One year of nursing experience within area of desired practice preferred
Certifications/Licenses:
- Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois or recent nursing graduate pending licensure
- BLS required ACLS(PREFERRED); other credentials may be required post-hire based on clinical area
