Job Description
The Data Scientist will analyze, and interpret multi-year, multi-state field trial data, with a primary focus on product efficacy. This role will be instrumental for turning statistical findings into recommendations that shape future trial design, guide product and formulation decisions, and support commercial messaging. The ideal candidate pairs a strong agricultural science background and statistical skill set with the ability to clearly communicate technical results to non-technical audiences across the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile, clean, and manage large field trial datasets spanning multiple years, states, and trial sites.
- Evaluate current data collection, management, and analysis workflows, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce manual effort, and standardize processes and data structures.
- Perform statistical analysis of field trial data, including efficacy data, to assess product and formulation performance across locations, seasons, and environmental conditions.
- Collect field trial data from field demos for efficacy and agronomic field demos set up by SAM
- Identify trends, variability, and statistically significant results to inform trial design, product decisions, and commercial recommendations.
- Develop clear visualizations, summaries, and reports that translate complex findings into actionable insight for technical and non-technical audiences alike.
- Evaluate commercial and experimental formulations alongside Field Development, contributing data-backed input to future field trial protocols.
- Deliver data-driven insights to Product Development to inform formulation refinement and pipeline priorities.
- Support Sales and Marketing with accurate, well-communicated performance data and talking points for grower- and distributor-facing materials.
- Ensure analysis and documentation meet the standards needed by Regulatory for registration and claims substantiation.
- Present findings to stakeholders across R&D, Sales, Marketing, and Regulatory, adapting depth and framing to the audience.
- Maintain organized, well-documented records of trial data, methodologies, and analyses.
- Stay current with statistical methods and tools relevant to agricultural research.
- Ability to travel up 20% of the time
- Position may be remote
Cross-Departmental Collaboration

- Sales & Marketing : translating findings into accurate, persuasive commercial content
- Regulatory: ensuring data and documentation support registration and claims requirements
Success in this role depends on the ability to shift communication style and technical depth by audience while keeping the underlying science consistent and accurate.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Crop Science, Plant Pathology, Plant Physiology, Horticulture, Agronomy, or a related agricultural/plant science field (Master's or PhD preferred). Equivalent experience in a relevant discipline will also be considered.

- Proficiency with a statistical software package such as R, SAS, or JMP.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for analysis, reporting, and presentations.
- Solid grounding in experimental design and statistical methods (e.g., ANOVA, regression, mixed models) as applied to agricultural research.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to explain technical and statistical information to non-technical audiences, particularly sales and marketing teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage large, multi-source datasets accurately.
- Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively across departments.
