Job Description
Contempo Cabinetry Inc.
Contempo Cabinetry Inc. is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Chief Estimator to join our team. This position is best suited for a professional with estimating experience in construction and cabinetry, particularly for commercial and multi-unit residential projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to interpret plans and specifications, manage detailed takeoffs, and support the preconstruction process with accuracy and professionalism. The Chief Estimator will play a key role in developing competitive and thorough project estimates, coordinating internally with design, engineering, and operations, and helping ensure successful project planning from initial bid through handoff.
Position Responsibilities
• Prepare complete and accurate estimates for commercial and multi-unit cabinetry projects
• Review architectural plans, project specifications, and bid documents to determine scope and pricing requirements
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, and related project components
• Coordinate with internal departments including sales, design, engineering, and operations throughout the estimating process
• Assist in the review and coordination of shop drawings as needed
• Identify scope gaps, pricing risks, and value engineering opportunities
• Maintain clear and organized records of bids, proposals, pricing worksheets, and estimate backup
• Utilize advanced Excel skills to create, manage, and analyze estimate worksheets, bid comparisons, and pricing models
Required Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction, cabinetry, and estimating
• Experience with commercial and multi-unit residential projects
• Advanced Excel proficiency
• Strong ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with takeoffs
• Experience with shop drawings
• Engineering experience or related technical knowledge
• Proficiency in AutoCAD
• Experience with 2020 Design
