Job Description
Position Description: The Mechanic Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the maintenance shop, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective repair and maintenance of company vehicles and equipment. This role manages mechanics and shop personnel, schedules preventive maintenance and repairs, maintains compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, controls inventory and vendor relationships, and ensures equipment is available to support operational needs while minimizing downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and lead mechanics and shop personnel.
Schedule and prioritize preventive maintenance and repairs.
Ensure equipment is maintained in a safe, reliable, and compliant condition.
Monitor shop productivity, labor costs, and repair expenses.
Manage parts inventory, tools, and vendor relationships.
Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, environmental, and company safety regulations.
Coordinate equipment availability with operations to minimize downtime.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and repair documentation.
Develop shop staff through coaching, training, and performance management.
Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.
