Job Description
The Shipping & Receiving Associate is responsible for receiving incoming materials, preparing outgoing shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting production operations in a manufacturing and powder coating environment. This position ensures materials and finished products are moved safely, accurately, and efficiently throughout the facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive incoming shipments and verify materials against packing slips and purchase orders.
- Inspect incoming materials for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report issues promptly.
- Unload and load trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment.
- Pick, stage, package, label, and prepare products for customer shipment.
- Complete and maintain shipping and receiving documentation accurately.
- Transport raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods throughout the facility.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through proper transactions and inventory control practices.
- Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
- Organize and maintain warehouse, storage, and shipping areas.
- Follow customer-specific packaging and shipping requirements.
- Adhere to all company safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Support production needs and assist in other departments as required.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Minimum of two (2) years of shipping and receiving experience preferred.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Basic computer skills, including experience with inventory systems, scanners, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read and interpret packing slips, bills of lading, work orders, and shipping documents.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Regularly works in a production and shop environment with noise, dust and varying temperature.
- Frequent standing and walking for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
- Must be able to lift, carry or move items and equipment parts up to 50 pounds.
- Works around moving machinery and must follow all safety and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Ability to work overtime or flexible hours as needed to support production and customer requirements.
