About This Position

About the Role

This isn’t a systems role — it’s an activation role. You are the activator. Our marketing infrastructure is built. HubSpot is running. Our brand has a voice. What we need now is someone who deploys all of it with intention, consistency, and an eye toward growth. You take what exists and make it move. You understand the event industry — or you’re genuinely obsessed with learning it. You know how planners think, what corporate clients need, and how to make a brand feel like something worth following. You’re as comfortable building a relationship at a networking event as you are briefing a content contractor on a campaign — and you understand that in this business, those two things are often the same work.

Who We Are

Folklore is a specialty event rental company serving the high-end events market in Southern California. We’re known for distinctive inventory, strong aesthetics, and deep relationships with the planners and clients who shape this industry. We’re growing — and we need someone who can help us show up the way we show up at an event: original, unexpected, and always the most interesting thing in the room.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years in brand, marketing, or business development — ideally in events, hospitality, or a creative industry
  • Proven ability to build and maintain a brand voice across multiple channel
  • A track record of building relationships that generate opportunity — not just awareness
  • Fluency in Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest — you understand how each platform works and what performs on each
  • Experience directing content creators, contractors, or junior team members

What We Are Looking For

  • Someone comfortable with HubSpot or similar CRM — you don’t need to build it, but you need to use it
  • Enough SEO fluency to shape content strategy and brief technical partners intelligently
  • Enough digital fluency to brief and evaluate paid media and email campaigns
  • A genuine eye for aesthetics — Folklore is a beautiful brand and this role requires someone who gets that

What You Will Own

  • Brand Voice & Identity - You are the steward of how Folklore sounds, looks, and feels across every channel. You keep the brand consistent, compelling, and evolving.
  • Social Media & Content Strategy - You own our presence on Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest — setting the strategy, directing the content specialist, and ensuring every post reflects where the brand is going, not just where it’s been.
  • Website - You own the website as a marketing and conversion tool — product presentation, catalog experience, landing pages, and content. You work with our tech partner on infrastructure but you drive what it says and how it performs.
  • Campaign Strategy & Execution - You define campaigns and ensure all channels — social, email, paid, partnerships — are aligned and moving toward the same goal.
  • Industry Presence & Relationships - You show up — networking events, industry organizations, vendor and planner relationships. You spot opportunities, open doors, and bring Folklore into the right rooms.
  • Corporate & DMC Marketing - You own the marketing side of our corporate growth strategy — positioning, outreach support, and campaign strategy that moves corporate clients and DMCs from awareness to inquiry.
  • Loyalty Program Activation - You bring our tiered trade program to life — communications, perks, early access campaigns, and the ongoing experience of being a Folklore partner.
  • Content Direction - You brief, direct, and hold accountable the content specialist. You set the editorial calendar, define the creative direction, and ensure output reflects the brand.

How We Work

  • Full time, in office — Southern California
  • Fast-paced, founder-led environment — you’ll have real autonomy and real accountability
  • Core values: Work Ethic, Reliability, Winning Attitude, Always Improving
  • You’ll work closely with the CEO and report directly to leadership
  • This is a growth company — your work will have direct, visible impact
