Job Description

Head of Engineering

What is Blinq?
Blinq is building the fastest, most intuitive way to share who you are and remember who you meet. What started as the world’s #1 digital business card is now the starting point for over 50 million new relationships a year - and growing at unicorn pace.
Our vision is to build the world’s intelligence layer for professional relationships - one that remembers for you, prompts when it matters, and keeps you in play. If that’s the kind of scale and ambition you want to be part of, you’re in the right place.
Why You’ll Love It Here
Rapid growth: Doubling ARR every few months, expanding our product surface, and rapidly building our team across Sydney, San Francisco, Melbourne, and New York.
Well-resourced: $45m+ raised from the likes of Blackbird, Touring Capital, Hubspot Ventures, and Square Peg - we’re continuously investing in the people and tools that fuel our mission.
A rare moment to join: We’re hitting an inflection point - big enough to have momentum, small enough for you to shape the journey.
Customers love it: 140k+ reviews and a 4.9/5 rating on the App Store - people around the world rely on Blinq to make that first interaction count.
We work in person, on purpose: We believe creativity and energy are better face-to-face - so we spend 3 days a week in the office and the rest where you work best.
Engineering at Blinq
Our engineering team is the engine behind Blinq’s success. We’re building tools that make sharing who you are instant and human. Every line of code, every release, and every experiment is focused on driving meaningful impact. If you thrive on solving complex, high-impact problems with a tight-knit team, you’ll feel right at home here.

Role & Impact

We’re looking for a Head of Engineering to lead and scale Blinq’s engineering organisation across Web and Mobile - and to architect the next evolution of our platform around an agentic workforce.

Our 35-person engineering team is the core engine behind Blinq’s growth. This role goes beyond traditional engineering leadership - you’ll be responsible for shaping how humans and intelligent systems build, ship, and operate software at Blinq.

You’ll partner directly with the Founder to define and execute a deeply technical, platform-first strategy - one that enables rapid product iteration, embeds AI into the development lifecycle, and unlocks step-function gains in engineering velocity and quality.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll stay close to the code, architecture, and systems design - setting a high technical bar and ensuring we build with rigor, scalability, and taste.

What You'll Do
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of Web and Mobile engineers, while embedding a culture of ownership, craft, and technical excellence
  • Define and execute Blinq’s platform strategy, ensuring systems are scalable, resilient, and built for speed
  • Drive adoption of an agentic engineering model — integrating AI tools and workflows that meaningfully increase developer leverage
  • Stay close to the code: review architecture, dive into complex technical problems, and guide key implementation decisions
  • Partner with the CEO/Founder to shape long-term technical direction and align engineering with company strategy
  • Own engineering execution end-to-end — from ideation to production — with a focus on velocity, quality, and reliability
  • Build and evolve team structure, hiring exceptional talent while maintaining a high performance bar
  • Establish scalable processes and systems that enable fast iteration without compromising engineering standards
What You'll Bring
  • Experience leading and scaling a high-performing engineering organisation (~35 engineers), including managing managers and senior ICs
  • Strong technical background - you’ve been deep in the weeds before and can still engage at the code, system design, and architecture level
  • Proven ability to define and execute platform and technical strategy for high-growth products
  • Deep curiosity and conviction around AI/agentic workflows and how they reshape how engineering teams operate
  • Strong product instincts and a bias toward building experiences users love
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-ownership startup environment
  • Exceptional coaching and talent development skills - you raise the bar for everyone around you
What You Get
We hold a high bar and move with intent. You’ll get the clarity, trust, and ownership to meet it - and a team that pushes to do the best work of our lives. We back that with:
Equity & ownership: We’re building something massive, and we want you to share in the upside. Genuinely.
Competitive salary & growth path: As Blinq grows, your role and compensation grow with it - no glass ceilings here.
Generous paid time off: At least 20 days fully disconnect each year, with a flexible policy beyond that.
Free food: Enjoy daily breakfast and lunch at some of our offices, plus an always-stocked snack bar.
