About This Position

Description:

The Human Resources Generalist will support the Human Resources department in delivering a broad range of HR services while working closely with the Human Resources Manager. This role requires working knowledge across all key HR functions including leave administration, onboarding, employee relations, time and labor management, HR compliance, benefits support and serving as a payroll backup. The HR Generalist plays an important role in maintaining an employee-focused, high-performance culture that promotes empowerment, productivity, and continuous improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Manage and execute the onboarding process for new hires, interns, and production staff, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience.
  • Track staff assignment dates and coordinate with Operations, Accounting, and new hires to ensure clarity and alignment.
  • Liaise with Operations, IT and Facilities to ensure all logistical aspects of onboarding (equipment, workspace, system access) are completed on time.
  • Organize and continuously improve new hire orientation sessions to provide a strong start for new employees.
  • Coordinate and administer all aspects of the offboarding process, including termination checklists, equipment return, system access removal, final timesheet submissions, and exit documentation.
  • Communicate with relevant departments (IT, Facilities, Payroll, etc.) to ensure offboarding processes are completed smoothly and in compliance with internal protocols.
  • Support departing employees by providing clear guidance, resources, and a respectful exit experience.
  • Maintain and update offboarding documentation and identify opportunities to enhance offboarding procedures.
  • Conduct end-to-end onboarding process including preparing offer letters, I-9 verification and E-Verify compliance, system setup, and orientation coordination.
  • Support offboarding procedures by preparing termination documentation, conducting exit interviews, and processing final paperwork.

HR Administration & General Support

  • Maintain HR records including employee files, medical files, and visa documentation.
  • Update internal HR systems and intranet content with company news, policies, and employee resources.
  • Process benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations. Support annual open enrollment coordination.
  • Assist with employee relations issues and communications under the guidance of the HR Manager.
  • Support HR initiatives such as employee engagement, training coordination, and performance review administration.
  • Participate in HR-related audits and ensure compliance with federal, state, and company requirements.

Reporting & Administration

  • Prepare and manage monthly HR reports and dashboards.
  • Maintain and update company organizational charts.
  • Provide administrative support on various People & Culture initiatives and projects.

Leave Administration & Compliance

  • Support Leave of Absence (LOA) administration, including preparation of leave letters and tracking of time taken, including FMLA, personal leave, and other statutory leave programs.
  • Coordinate with employees, managers, and third-party administrators to ensure timely documentation and compliance.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure adherence to legal and company policies.

General HR Operations

  • Provide project support across People & Culture on a wide range of initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with I-9 documentation requirements
  • Provide payroll support including time sheet reminders & basic data entry
  • On-boarding including establishing new hire profiles
  • Off- boarding including exit documents & termination payments
  • Respond to employment verifications and unemployment claims
  • All other Human Resources Duties as needed or assigned
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field experience.
  • 2–3 years of HR generalist or HR coordinator / specialist experience.
  • Solid understanding of HR functions including onboarding, leave administration, time tracking, and basic payroll knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office (Excel proficiency required).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; high attention to detail.
  • Passion for creating a positive employee and candidate experience, from first day to last.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical behavior.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Software: SAP, SAP Concur, Paylocity, Microsoft Office
  • Certifications: PHR, SHRM-CP
  • Language: Bi-lingual English / German

Working conditions

  • Primarily based in a professional office setting using standard office equipment.
  • Occasional exposure to a plant environment with elements such as noise, dust, and odors.
