About This Position

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Quality is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization's Quality Management System (QMS). This position provides executive oversight of quality assurance, regulatory compliance, continuous improvement initiatives, and customer satisfaction strategies.

The Director of Quality partners with executive leadership to align quality objectives with business goals, ensures compliance with industry standards including AS9100, ISO 9001, and Nadcap, and drives culture of operational excellence across the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and execute the company's quality strategy in alignment with corporate objectives.

• Provide executive-level reporting on QMS performance, risk exposure, compliance status, and improvement initiatives.

• Champion and culture of quality, continuous improvement, and customer focus throughout the organization.

• Serve as the management representative or designate appropriate representative for quality systems and regulator compliance.

• Ensure the QMS is fully established, implemented, maintained, and continuously improved.

• Oversee internal audit programs, management reviews, and compliance assessments.

• Lead company actions for certifications, approval, and surveillance audits including AS9100 and Nadcap.

• Ensure full compliance with ISO 9001 and other applicable regulatory and customer requirements.

• Provide oversight of document control, calibration systems, and testing programs.

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, minimizing rework, and improving process capability.

• Oversee Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) processes to ensure systemic resolution of issues.

• Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to monitor performance metrics, analyze defect trends, and implement preventive measures.

• Integrate Continuous Improvement techniques such as Lean Manufacturing, SPC, and Six Sigma methodologies into daily operations.

• Ensure effective handling and disposition of nonconforming product, including customer communication when required.

• Build, lead, and mentor the Quality team, including quality engineers, audits, and inspectors, periodic controls, and lab personnel.

• Develop and deliver training programs related to quality systems, corrective actions, and regulatory compliance.

• Establish succession planning and professional development pathways within the Quality department.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical, or Business discipline required (Master's degree preferred).

• 8+ years of progressive experience in quality leadership within metal finishing, aerospace, or regulated manufacturing environments.

• Demonstrated experience managing AS9100, ISO 9001, and Nadcap accreditation processes.

• Strong knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), measurement systems analysis, and quality analytics.

• Proven experience leading continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma preferred).

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

• Exceptional leadership, communication, and cross functional collaboration skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a data-driven mindset.

ITAR REQUIREMENT:

Due to ITAR regulations, this position requires that the employee must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Sitting/Standing for prolonged periods of time

• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

• Comfortable being exposed heat, noise and chemical fumes while in production areas.

• Good hand and eye coordination and movement.
