Per Diem Estate Planning Attorney (Hybrid - Riverhead/Melville/Garden City)

Sheryll Law, P.C. is looking for a New York-licensed estate planning attorney to work with us on a PER DIEM, per-plan basis. This is a contractor role, not a salaried position. You choose how many plans you take on.

HYBRID ROLE: Drafting is done remotely. Client meetings and in-person signings are covered at all three of our Long Island offices: Riverhead, Melville, and Garden City (and occasionally a client's home or care facility). You must be able and willing to travel among all three offices.

HOW YOU'RE PAID (PER DIEM / PER PLAN): You are paid a flat fee for each estate plan you complete, not a salary or hourly wage: $500-$600 for a will-based plan and $1,250-$1,500 for a trust or Medicaid asset protection trust (MAPT) plan. The fee is earned when the plan is signed. The hourly range shown on this posting ($125-$175/hr) is the approximate hourly equivalent of those per-plan fees. Travel to signings outside our offices is reimbursed.

Our attorneys handle plan design and review your drafts. You take each plan from drafting through client follow-up to signing. We handle intake, billing, and administration, so you can focus on the legal work and the clients.

$125 - $175 hourly

• Draft estate planning documents from our firm templates and the attorney's design notes: revocable and irrevocable trusts (including MAPTs and SNTs), wills, NY statutory short form POAs, health care proxies, living wills, and HIPAA authorizations

• Review drafts with clients by phone, video, or in person; answer questions and make revisions

• Schedule and supervise in-person signings at our Riverhead, Melville, and Garden City offices (occasionally at a client's home or facility), including will execution with witnesses, notarization, and POA formalities

• Prepare a short post-signing memo and hand off trust-funding instructions to our team

• Flag issues or open questions for the supervising attorney before documents are finalized

• Keep plans moving on schedule and communicate clearly with our staff

• Admitted to practice law in New York and in good standing (required)

• Available for in-person client meetings and signings at all three offices: Riverhead, Melville, and Garden City (required)

• Reliable transportation

• NY estate planning experience, including trust drafting and supervising will executions

• Warm, clear communicator with clients, especially older clients and their families

• Reliable on turnaround times and comfortable working independently as a per diem contractor

• Elder law / Medicaid planning experience and familiarity with Clio and Box are a plus
