Position Description:
Title: Commissioning Engineer
Location: Southern California
Salary Range: $98,000 to $150,000
This position will provide support to the Project Management team through design, construction and commissioning, and overseeing the installation of systems, plants and equipment for the major capital projects as well as supporting various other projects and operational initiatives.
Essential duties and other responsibilities including but are not limited to the following:
- Provides process expertise during design phase of project.
- Collaborates with the Project Management team to provide input into project schedules.
- Oversees commissioning activities and validates that the process designs are capable of being safely commissioned.
- Guides the preparation of commissioning plans and procedures.
- Develops and implements commission requirements.
- Designs and develops comprehensive commissioning performance tests for utilization and validation of project operations.
- Collaborates with project management team to determine operational constraints, challenges and impediments.
- Provides guidance and expertise to ensure the successful operation of assigned projects.
- Develops instructional documentation and procedures reflecting project start-up, operations, plans and training procedures for maintenance activities and assigned project personnel.
- Dedicated to achieving a “Zero Accident Culture” by developing and implementing to site safety protocols and adhering to OSHA safety standard

- Professional Engineering background with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the field of water and wastewater treatment process commissioning. A combination of education and experience may also be considered.
- Experience in tie-in planning, pre-commissioning, start-up, and process validation testing.
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems and the associated commissioning activities of each.
- Experience writing commissioning procedures.
- Design-Build experience a plus but not required.
- Solid understanding of equipment used in the wastewater industry.
- Knowledge of various construction methods and materials, their characteristics, installation procedures and tolerance.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in an active construction site.
- A valid California Driver’s License

Required Education/Experience/Skills

- Must possess a working knowledge of understanding process and instrumentation diagrams, Electrical Schematics and Construction Drawings.
- Solid understanding of equipment and processes used in the wastewater industry.
