Trades Specialist

I.Position Summary: Under guidance from the Director, specify, perform, and/or oversee maintenance and repairs to a broad range of areas including but not limited to carpentry, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, medical gases, utilities, mechanical systems, etc. Typical duties include but are not limited to mid-level construction (suite renovation), mid to advanced repair and maintenance of HVAC and related equipment, installation and/or replacement of plumbing systems, diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities on specialized systems such as DDC Controls, plant software systems, electrical system diagnostics and/or repairs, etc. May be required to serve as a primary call-out person for emergency situations. Accountable for the performance of required building and maintenance trades at the journeyman and/or masters level to ensure safe and efficient operation of the hospital’s facilities.

1. Licensure/Certification/Registration: License as Journeyman in related field.

1. Education: High School Diploma or GED–, valid driver’s license, Completion of two years or more of trade school in applied field, preferred. Maintenance related certifications, preferred.

1. Experience: Minimum of 8 years of related experience and/or certificates of graduation/completion from related trade school(s). License as Journeyman in related trade field. One year of practical experience in an accredited hospital engineering department, desired.

1. Safety:Participate in all required educational and competency offerings related to safety, including patient safety activities. Agree to abide by the SaintFrancisHospitalimplementation plans for the JCAHO National Patient Safety Goals. Provide feedback concerning any patient safety issues identified within the hospital.

1. Hours of work:Able to work scheduled hours as dictated by business needs including weekends and holidays, primarily Monday – Friday, day shift with occasional overtime when requested and/or scheduled.

1. Attendance: Consistent, predictable attendance, including punctuality, is required.

1. Populations of patients served: No responsibility to treat or care for patients.
