The Facility Maintenance Specialist is a senior technical role responsible for ensuring the operational excellence and reliability of plant-wide utility systems and building infrastructure. This position operates within the Facility Maintenance Team, working alongside the Assistant Manager to support overall plant operations.
The role involves a hybrid approach: performing direct hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting while simultaneously managing specialized external vendors for statutory inspections and complex repairs. The Specialist acts as a technical lead for building compliance (Elevators, Fire Systems, etc.) and ensures all facility assets meet the highest safety and efficiency standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Statutory Inspection & Vendor Coordination
- External Inspection Oversight: Plan, schedule, and oversee all mandatory statutory inspections (Elevators, Fire Suppression, Pressure Vessels, and Electrical Safety) conducted by external agencies.
- Vendor Management: Act as the primary liaison for service providers; review technical quotes, manage maintenance contracts, and audit the quality of work performed by third-party technicians.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure 100% regulatory compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and local codes; maintain meticulous records of permits, certifications, and inspection reports.
2. Plant Utilities & Building Infrastructure
- Elevator Management: Ensure the safe and continuous operation of all elevator systems through proactive vendor management and immediate response to operational issues.
- System Maintenance: Monitor and maintain critical plant utilities, including air compressors, electrical distribution (low/medium voltage), and HVAC/Chiller/Boiler systems.
- Hybrid Execution: Perform hands-on repairs for general facility components (plumbing, lighting, structural fixtures) while coordinating with external experts for specialized technical tasks.
3. Production & Equipment Support
- Production Asset Reliability: Provide maintenance support for production-related infrastructure, including overhead cranes and hoists, ensuring they meet all safety and operational certifications.
- Technical Assistance: Support the production maintenance team during critical equipment breakdowns, line start-ups, or planned shutdowns to minimize downtime.
- Facility Modifications: Assist in equipment installations, utility hookups (electrical/pneumatic), and facility layout changes as required.
4. Operational Strategy & Procurement(investment implementation)
- Advanced Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex mechanical/electrical failures and implement permanent solutions.
- Inventory & Procurement: Identify required spare parts, tools, and supplies; initiate Purchase Requests (PR) and manage an organized inventory to prevent stockouts of critical items.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to optimize utility efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and improve overall facility reliability
Qualifications
Required
- 3–5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of industrial utilities (HVAC, Electrical, Compressed Air) and building systems (Elevators).
- Proven experience in coordinating external contractors and managing statutory/legal inspection schedules.
- Advanced hands-on skills in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
Preferred
- Technical certification or professional license (e.g., Electrician, HVAC, or Mechanical trade).
- Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for work orders and asset tracking.
- Strong understanding of industrial safety practices and regulatory compliance.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Work requires periods of close attention to work without interruption. Concentrated effort of up to 4 hours without break may be required.
- Work requires constant response to changing circumstances and using new information to adjust approach and to quickly respond to new needs.

- Requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Job is physical in nature and employee needs to stand and/or move around through most of their shift.
