The Team Lead for Real World Evidence (RWE) Initiatives provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR®)’s extensive portfolio of registry-based research studies, including both internally and externally funded initiatives. This individual will play a pivotal role in advancing the use of real-world data to generate evidence that informs clinical practice, policy, and innovation in cardiovascular care.

This position requires a highly organized, proactive leader who can manage complex, multi-year, high-revenue projects while fostering collaboration across internal teams and external stakeholders. The Team Lead will be instrumental in driving the success and growth of NCDR’s research and publications business line, ensuring excellence in study design, execution, and dissemination.


Responsibilities


  • Collaborates with the Team Lead to shape NCDR’s overall RWE research strategy, drive its execution and ensure alignment with ACC’s mission and strategic priorities.

  • Directs and monitors the NCDR Research & Publications revenue pipeline to meet short- and long-term financial targets. Analyzes trends and presents periodic financial results to division leadership.

  • Identifies new business opportunities through competitive market research and partners with the RWE Growth Strategy & Partnerships Associate and ACC Corporate Relations and Business Strategy team to pursue and convert leads.

  • Ensures timely completion of deliverables tied to financial milestones across a large portfolio of projects. Proactively identifies risks and communicates mitigation strategies to senior leadership.

  • Supports the development and implementation of standardized operational procedures, policies, and performance metrics. Recommends and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships across ACC business lines, IT, legal, compliance, and other internal stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination and teamwork.

  • Strengthens partnerships with stakeholders to enhance registry-based studies. Represents NCDR in internal initiatives and external forums, including industry, professional societies, and regulatory agencies.

  • Collaborates with physician leaders, member committees, and work groups. Applies ACC policies consistently across research and publication activities, including committee appointments and relationships with industry.

  • Partners with the Principal Data Scientist to identify and develop new RWE-based client solutions and product offerings.

  • Manages and supports two interrelated research teams by:

    • Clearly defining roles, responsibilities, and expectations.

    • Guiding teams in identifying challenges and mitigating risks early.

    • Providing regular feedback, coaching, and mentoring to foster growth and performance.


Qualifications


  • Master’s degree in health services research, public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or related field (Doctorate preferred).

  • Minimum 7 years in clinical research using non-administrative clinical data (cardiology preferred), including 2+ years of staff supervision.

  • Proven ability to manage priorities, resources, and financial targets with a high degree of autonomy; strong client communication and strategic alignment skills.

  • Familiarity with FDA and CMS guidance on RWE.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; ability to build consensus across cross-functional teams and cultivate strategic relationships.

  • Experience leading, coaching, and motivating employees.

  • Willingness to travel as needed.

  • Background in RWE, research study design, implementation science, health outcomes research and observational data.

  • Clinical experience related to health outcomes research (cardiology-specific work preferred).

  • Familiarity with statistical methods and statistical software packages such as SAS or SPSS.
