Requirements:The Healthcare Provider Solutions Consultant will play a significant role in the growth and success of Commence in the hospital and health system market. The ideal candidate serves as a trusted authority on health information management, revenue cycle operations, denial management, and clinical coding and brings that expertise directly to bear in support of sales, product, and engineering teams.
This is a domain-first, solutions-oriented role. The right candidate understands how HIM departments, revenue cycle teams, and coding operations function inside hospital and health system environments and has the ability to bridge that operational knowledge with technology, helping prospective customers see how the Commence platform maps to their real-world workflows. This person serves as the trusted domain voice throughout the provider sales cycle and beyond.
Provider Domain Expertise
- Serve as the primary internal and external expert on hospital and health system operations across health information management, clinical coding, denial management and appeals, and revenue cycle workflows
- Translate operational realities into clear platform use cases helping hospital and health system prospects understand precisely how the Commence platform applies to their HIM workflows, coding operations, and denial management processes
- Stay current on provider market trends, HIM and coding standards, payer denial patterns, billing and coding guidelines, and regulatory changes that impact hospital revenue cycle operations
- Develop and maintain provider-focused documentation, use cases, and enablement materials for Sales, Pre-Sales, and Customer Success teams
- Represent Commence's provider expertise at industry forums, health system-facing events, and HIM and revenue cycle conferences to strengthen credibility and visibility in the provider market
Sales & Pre-Sales Support
- Partner with sales and pre-sales teams to provide provider domain expertise throughout the commercial sales cycle from initial discovery through close
- Lead or participate in product demonstrations, serving as the domain voice that connects Commence's platform capabilities to the specific HIM, coding, and denial management workflows of each prospect
- Conduct structured discovery conversations to understand a prospect's current HIM operations, coding processes, denial rates, appeals workflows, and revenue cycle challenges
- Leverage existing provider relationships to open doors, establish credibility, and accelerate the sales cycle in a market where trust is earned through shared operational experience
Product & Strategic Collaboration
- Partner with product management and software engineering to ensure provider HIM workflows, coding operations, and denial management realities are reflected in product design and roadmap decisions
- Contribute to the development of Commence's coding and denial management use cases as the autonomous coding product matures from pilot to commercial availability
- Identify new product opportunities based on emerging provider market trends, HIM operational shifts, and evolving hospital revenue cycle needs
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in health information management, clinical coding, denial management, revenue cycle operations, or a closely related provider-facing role within a hospital, health system, or health IT company serving providers
- Working knowledge of clinical coding systems (ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS) and how coding accuracy and documentation quality directly impact claim submission, denial rates, and appeals outcomes
- Direct experience with denial management and appeals workflows including root cause analysis, payer denial patterns, and the operational processes health systems use to track, work, and resolve denials
- Demonstrated ability to translate provider operational knowledge into practical technology use cases and client-facing solution narratives, not just describe how the health system world works, but show how technology changes it
- Existing network of relationships within hospital and health system HIM, coding, or revenue cycle departments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage credibly with HIM directors, revenue cycle leaders, coding managers, CFOs, and C-suite health system stakeholders
- Ability to travel within the United States on a monthly basis
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
- RHIA or RHIT credential, or an equivalent coding credential such as CCS, CPC, COC, or CIC
- Prior experience in a client-facing, solutions consulting, or vendor-facing role within a health IT, revenue cycle, or HIM technology company strongly preferred over a purely health system-internal career path
- Familiarity with healthcare data interoperability standards, including HL7 and FHIR, and how data exchange between EHRs, payers, and third-party platforms impacts HIM and revenue cycle workflows
- Experience supporting or evaluating computer-assisted coding, autonomous coding, or AI-assisted clinical documentation tools
