About This Position

JOB SUMMARY:

The Dry Warehouse Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the dry warehouse, ensuring accurate inventory control, efficient material flow, and compliance with all safety, food safety, and quality standards. This role acts as a key link between Production, Receiving, Shipping, and Planning to ensure materials are available, properly stored, and issued to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Dry Warehouse Operations & Coordination

  • Coordinate daily activities within the dry warehouse, including receiving, storage, staging, and issuing of dry ingredients and packaging materials.
  • Ensure materials are stored according to FIFO, lot control, allergen segregation, and food safety requirements.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of dry warehouse locations to support efficient picking and staging.
  • Monitor material levels and communicate shortages, discrepancies, or risks to Warehouse Management and Inventory Lead.
  • Support yard and dock coordination related to dry warehouse materials as needed.

Inventory Control & System Accuracy

  • Perform inventory transactions in the ERP/WMS system, including receipts, transfers, staging, and material issues.
  • Verify accurate labeling, lot numbers, quantities, and expiration dates for all dry materials.
  • Support cycle counts, spot checks, and discrepancy investigations within the dry warehouse.
  • Ensure all material movements are scanned and recorded accurately and in real time.
  • Maintain documentation required for traceability, audits, and food safety compliance.

Production Support & Material Staging

  • Stage dry materials accurately and on time to support production schedules.
  • Coordinate closely with Production to respond to schedule changes, urgent needs, or priority adjustments.
  • Ensure materials issued to production meet quality, specification, and documentation requirements.
  • Assist in resolving material-related production interruptions or shortages.

Receiving & Shipping Support

  • Support receiving of dry materials by verifying quantities, condition, documentation, and lot information.
  • Assist with outbound shipments involving dry goods, ensuring correct SKU, lot, and quantities.
  • Communicate issues related to damaged, missing, or non-conforming materials promptly.

Safety, GMP & Compliance

  • Follow and enforce OSHA, GMP, and Food Safety standards within the dry warehouse.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready storage areas.
  • Report unsafe conditions, damaged product, or non-conforming materials immediately.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and safe operation of material-handling equipment.

Communication & Team Support

  • Act as a point of contact for dry warehouse-related questions during assigned shift.
  • Communicate clearly with Warehouse Managers, Inventory Lead, and Production teams regarding material status.
  • Support onboarding and training of new warehouse team members as assigned.
  • Reinforce standard work and accountability for inventory and material handling processes.

Continuous Improvement & Process Support

  • Identify opportunities to improve dry warehouse layout, material flow, and organization.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy and warehouse efficiency.
  • Support implementation of new procedures, system enhancements, or standard work updates.

Qualification Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education or certifications in logistics, supply chain, or operations preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in warehouse operations, inventory coordination, or material handling, preferably in a food manufacturing or regulated environment.
  • Working knowledge of ERP or WMS systems, including inventory transactions, scanning, and material movements.
  • Understanding of FIFO, lot control, expiration dating, and basic traceability requirements.
  • Familiarity with GMP, Food Safety, and OSHA standards.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with Warehouse, Inventory, and Production teams.
  • Forklift / PIT experience preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including handheld scanners and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull while performing inventory checks and material handling.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • May be required to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment as needed.
  • Ability to climb ladders or stairs to access stored materials.
  • Visual acuity required to read labels, lot codes, expiration dates, and system screens accurately.
  • Manual dexterity required for scanning, labeling, and operating handheld devices and computer systems.
  • Must be able to work in cold, hot, or variable temperature environments, including freezer and refrigerated storage areas.
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to safety shoes, gloves, hairnets, and hearing protection.

Work Environment

This position works in both office and manufacturing/warehouse environments with variable temperatures, loud noise from machinery, equipment alarms, and frequent interaction with carriers and drivers.
