Senior Director, Regulatory Compliance BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SUNSTRONG MANAGEMENT

THE SENIOR DIRECTOR, REGULATORY COMPLIANCE POSITION

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced compliance and risk leader to design and scale our compliance program. This role ensures that the organization operates in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies, and promotes a culture of compliance across the business. We view compliance as a strategic function that leverages regulatory requirements to drive efficient operations, consistent execution, and long-term scalability.

The ideal candidate brings a strong command of consumer-facing regulatory frameworks and a demonstrated ability to stand up practical solutions quickly and iterate. The candidate should be comfortable leveraging emerging technologies, including AI, to improve processes, and drive efficiency to support a high-performing legal and compliance function.

This role will report to the General Counsel and work closely with senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Infrastructure & Program Design
  • Design and operationalize scalable compliance frameworks, including policies, procedures, and controls aligned with federal, state, and local requirements
  • Build escalation workflows so complaints requiring additional oversight are quickly identified and handled consistently
  • Review training materials, scripts, and workflows to ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate on enhancements where needed
  • Assist in developing reporting and dashboards that translate customer service data into actionable insights for leadership

Enterprise Risk Management
  • Lead risk identification, assessment, and mitigation processes across business
  • Maintain risk registers and control frameworks
  • Establish escalation and reporting structures for key risks

Monitoring, Testing and Reporting
  • Design risk-based monitoring and testing programs
  • Define KPIs and develop reporting dashboard for leadership
  • Identify trends and areas for improvement across compliance and risk


Experience
  • 8-12+ years of experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles within a consumer-facing industry (e.g., solar, renewable energy, fintech, financial services, or similar)
  • Demonstrated experience building and implementing compliance programs from the ground up.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable consumer protection and data-related regulatory frameworks (i.e. FCRA, UDAAP, TILA, GLBA, FDCPA)
  • Experience developing risk-based controls, monitoring and testing frameworks that are practical and scalable.
  • Experience responding to or supporting regulatory inquiries, audits or examinations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • JD or other relevant advanced degree a plus but not required
