Greenhouse Specialist Lead in McAdoo, Pennsylvania at Little Leaf Farms LLC

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for leading maintenance support staff, coordinating work assignments, ensuring equipment and systems remain operational, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and food-grade compliance. The Lead will work directly alongside the team while ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and correctly.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership & Coordination

• Lead and support a team performing routine and project-based maintenance tasks.
• Assign daily work orders and prioritize tasks based on production and facility needs.
• Ensure all assigned work is completed safely, correctly, and on schedule.
• Provide training and guidance to team members on equipment, cleaning procedures, and safety expectations.
• Communicate daily maintenance needs, repairs, and project progress to management.

Facility Maintenance & Mechanical Support

• Perform and oversee routine and project-based pipe painting and facility coating work.
• Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot GPS mechanical drive systems, including Germination Box and Grow Field components.
• Clean, inspect, and maintain fogging nozzles to ensure consistent misting performance.
• Replace and clean irrigation drippers to maintain proper water distribution.
• Perform regular gutter maintenance, cleaning, and sanitizing to prevent blockages and ensure proper drainage.
• Conduct repairs on damaged or leaking gutters.
• Apply roof chalking during required seasonal periods.
• Maintain and repair insect netting systems (when trained and qualified).

Cleaning & Food Safety Support

• Ensure regular cleaning of light fixtures and overhead equipment to meet facility cleanliness and food safety standards.
• Perform or oversee routine window washing and general greenhouse upkeep.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper storage of tools and materials.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure maintenance work meets all safety standards and company policies.
• Promote and enforce proper use of PPE, ladder safety, lift safety, and lockout/tagout practices when applicable.
• Identify hazards and report safety concerns to leadership.
• Support compliance requirements related to sanitation and food safety.
• General Responsibilities
• Adapt to changing facility conditions and work pace based on throughput and production needs.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to lead or coordinate maintenance tasks in an industrial, greenhouse, or production environment.
