About This Position

Description:

The primary responsibility of the Field Operations Specialist is focused on operational support of the sales team. The Specialist will work in conjunction with a designated team within the defined territory. The Field Operations Specialist will serve as primary point of contact for the Operations team, located in Richmond, to ensure proper organization and management of inventory and instruments in the assigned territory. This position will also provide functional support such as lab set up and clean-up, in effort to augment sales efforts and allow the sales force to focus on sales targets.

This position will report directly to the Team Lead, but take direction from the Inventory & Logistics Supervisor, located in Richmond.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as main point of contact for all communications with Inventory & Logistics for all inbound and outbound shipping needs.
  2. Communicate effectively between the team and operations to ensure timeliness and clarity in writing, verbally, and data entry tasks.
  3. Ownership of organization and management of instruments and implants needed for surgical cases within the territory.
  4. Responsible for assisting Sales Operations with audits, collection of purchase orders, and data entry into the inventory management system.
  5. Process all inventory orders on behalf of the team including restocks and loaners to meet timeline of team needs while maintaining the integrity of the operations processes.
  6. Delivering instruments/implants to/from TM’s accounts in preparation for upcoming surgical cases or after the completion of surgical cases.
  7. Responsible for building and maintaining strong working relationships with purchasing personnel and central sterile.
  8. Develop knowledge and understanding of the products that Fortis sells/supports within the territory.
  9. Take an active role in providing the best customer service experience to internal and external customers.

Requirements:

Minimal Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent experience in a related field
  2. Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy and pathology
  3. Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable transportation
  4. Adaptability and critical thinking skills
  5. Problem-solving skills and ability to provide action-oriented solutions
  6. Must be willing and able to work independently
  7. Excellent communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  8. Adaptable and ability to manage time effectively
  9. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  10. Familiarity with the medical device industry is preferred. Candidate may have clinical OR experience, sterile processing experience, or related experience
  11. Willingness and ability to travel frequently
  12. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and smart phone technology

Work Environment:

The Field Operations Specialist role is a hybrid role that will have office-based duties and duties that require travelling within the assigned territory.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Sitting for Long Periods: spend a lot of time driving between hospitals, clinics, and meetings
  2. Standing for Long Periods: often be present in the lab where they need to stand, observe, and engage with medical professionals
  3. Lifting & Carrying: Medical devices can range from small tools to heavy equipment, requiring TMs to transport and set up displays or training materials (up to 50 lbs.)
  4. Walking Between Locations: In large hospitals or medical facilities, may need to walk extensively to visit different departments.
  5. Dexterity & Fine Motor Skills: Setting up and demonstrating equipment may require precise handling and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
