Job Responsibilities
You will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and procuring specialized materials, components, and equipment that meet precise engineering and production requirements. This role works closely with internal teams to interpret technical specifications, assess supplier capabilities, and ensure purchased items align with project standards. Additionally, you will be expected to negotiate pricing and contract terms for certain equipment or service requirements in conjunction with other Supply Chain Specialists.
- MRO sourcing of Indirect materials with some exposure to direct materials
- Procure needed goods & services at the optimum price for use within the organization
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable supply and quality.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance, and Project Management teams.
- Collaborate with suppliers throughout the procurement cycle to ensure the timely resolution of issues related to purchase orders, product availability, receiving, and invoice discrepancies.
- Maintain a working technical knowledge of the goods or services to be purchased
- Analyze cost structures and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality
- Evaluate and apply principles and methods for transporting goods by air, rail, sea, and road, considering the relative costs, advantages, and limitations of each mode to support effective procurement and logistics decisions.
- Creating RFP’s & RFI’s when necessary (this includes proposal support & evaluation, quotation evaluation, price analyses, expedite, & supporting the purchasing file documentation)
- Ensure purchased items comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and internal policies.
- Negotiating pricing, logistics and finance terms and conditions with suppliers
Job Requirements
- HS diploma or GED required
- 4-year degree in a related field is preferred
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a buyer, preferably in an industrial manufacturing environment
- Professional certification or equivalent training & experience can be substituted
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- General understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, experience with SAP is a plus
- Mathematical Concepts necessary for procurement
- Ability to use computers, programs, & their applications as needed (i.e Internet Searches, Microsoft Office)
- Develop constructive & cooperative working relationships & maintain them over time
- General knowledge of relevant supply bases & international sourcing
- Background experience in industrial equipment and tooling a plus
