High School Varsity Head Football Coach
JOB DESCRIPTION
SCHOOL: Bennett High School
DEPARTMENT: Bennett School District Athletic Dept.
JOB TITLE: HIGH SCHOOL HEAD VARSITY FOOTBALL COACH (Boys-Fall) (position offered in connection with a certified teacher position within the district). The district currently has a certified sports conditioning opening and upcoming open certified opening positions throughout the district for the 25-26 school year.
SALARY: $4,800-$5,600 (experience dependent)
PURPOSE: The Head Football Coach will promote an appreciation of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The Head Football Coach will provide leadership and supervision for team and individual sports, work closely with the other staff and administration of BSD29J.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must have completed all CHSAA requirements which include but are not limited to: CHSSA Coaches Test, CPR Certification, Concussion Certificate, Mandatory Reports Certificate, Mental Health/Suicide Prevention and completion of the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching. Must also complete Bennett School District 29J requirements: Finger Printing and Background check.
  1. Educational Level: High School Diploma
  1. Experience: 3 Years High School Head Varsity Coaching experience preferred.
  1. Physical Requirements: Eye-hand, mind-eye coordination, physical dexterity, and the ability to bend, stoop, walk, talk, and sit. The ability to travel between locations.
  1. Other Requirements:
    1. Course work in sport coaching.
    2. Prevention of athletic injuries.
    3. Continue education in football training.
    4. Valid Driver’s License
REPORTS TO: Bennett High School Athletic Director and Principal
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
  1. Assumes responsibility for the entire program which includes:
    1. Coaching the varsity squad and supervising JV & assistant coaches within the Football Program.
    2. Giving guidance to the high school junior varsity, freshman, and Middle school programs.
    3. Works with Bennett Rec to offer guidance in youth football activities.
    4. Implements district athletic department policies.
  2. Coordinates summer lifting, 7 on 7, camps, and other off-season activities.
  3. Assists in the selection and evaluation of Junior Varsity and assistant coaching staff.
  4. Ensure that all athletic activities conform to CHSAA guidelines.
  5. Works with the Bennett High School Athletic Director and Principal
    1. Communicating of high school football schedule
    2. Communication of travel for out-of-town trips.
    3. Verification ready to play requirements of the high school athletic office.
    4. Adherence to school eligibility.
    5. Organization of middle school communications of the high school football program for incoming freshman.
  6. Works with Bennett High School Athletic Director to correlate the practice schedules of all football squads.
  7. Supervises practice fields and playing fields during and following periods of team participation.
  8. Coordinates, promotes, and participates in fundraising efforts for team.
  9. Remains with students and supervises them while traveling to away competitions.
  10. Cares for athletes and injured athletes.
  11. Cares for, maintains, and oversees the storage of all equipment and uniforms.
  12. Regularly updates MaxPreps, HUDL, and other state statistical tracking platforms.
  13. Prepares award lists and season records.
  14. Works closely with newspapers, radio and television personnel to encourage favorable public interest in the program specifically and the athletic program generally.
  15. Attends all meetings regarding participation of football with the Bennett High School.
  16. Encourages participation of high school booster club.
  17. Works closely with the Bennett High School in preparation and control of field facilities.
  18. Keeps informed on current trends in your sport and attends and participates in clinics in your sport.
  19. Maintains active membership in related profession organization (CHSCA.
  20. Prepares list when teams are taken out of school to participate in athletic contest.
  21. Maintains a positive staff relationship with other coaches.
  22. Performs other duties as assigned by the Bennett High School Athletic Director and Principal
  23. Communicates with players about personal development during the season as well as the off-season.
  24. Holds meeting with parents to inform them about the program as well as your expectations of them and the players.
  25. Leads by example regarding promotion of sportsmanship.
  26. Promotes the high school Football program by encouraging participation of players of the upcoming season.
  27. Ensure the continual supervision of student athletes on the field, in conditioning, and in locker rooms.
  28. Performs other duties as assigned.
  29. Supports the philosophy and vision of BSD29J.
  30. Attend, when requested, Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) rules meetings, and adhere to rules and regulations of CHSAA and the Frontier League.
  31. Apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
