The Veterinary Pharmacy Technician is responsible for ensuring accurate, efficient, and safe medication dispensing to patients in both Wellness and Urgent Care. This role supports veterinarians by preparing medications, managing inventory, coordinating prescription requests, and communicating clearly with clients and external pharmacies.
This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and enjoys a structured, steady workflow that directly supports patient care.
ResponsibilitiesKey responsibilities include:
Accurately fill, label, and dispense medications according to veterinarian instruction
Prepare prescriptions in EzyVet for veterinarian review and approval
Communicate with clients by phone and in person regarding:
Medication use & dosing
Refill timelines
Expected treatment outcomes
When to schedule visits or escalate concerns
Assist with triage support by determining when patients require:
Same-day urgent care
Scheduled wellness appointments
Home monitoring with follow-up
Provide guidance to technicians and CSRs on medication directions and pharmacy workflows
Coordinate with compounding pharmacies and specialty suppliers
Maintain inventory, receive orders, and rotate stock
Monitor and document controlled substances per DEA and state requirements
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy workspace
Participate in team training and hospital workflow improvement initiatives
Minimum 1 year of experience in a veterinary practice, pharmacy setting, or relevant medical environment (required)
Experience preparing or dispensing medications strongly preferred
CVT/LVT licensure (preferred but not required)
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in fast-paced situations
Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills
Reliable, compassionate, and professional in client and patient interactions
Comfortable learning new systems and adapting to workflow updates
Comfortable communicating medical information clearly and empathetically over the phone and in person.
Full-time position Sunday-Wednesday
